Ministry of Culture speaks out about foreign court ruling on Hong Dang - Ho Hoai Anh

Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet - Chief of Office of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) - told Tien Phong that the MOCST has not yet received an official document on the court's verdict related to the case of two artists Hong Dang and Ho Hoai Anh in Spain.

"We have not received any information or official documents related to the incident. We have read this information in newspapers and on social networks, but there is no official information about this," said Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet.

Mr. Viet affirmed that as soon as official information is available, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will have a specific and legitimate announcement to the public.

In 2022, two artists Hong Dang and Ho Hoai Anh had their passports confiscated due to their involvement in the alleged murder of a British girl at a hotel in Andratx, Mallorca, Spain.

After returning home, musician Ho Hoai Anh was disciplined by the Vietnam National Academy of Music for traveling abroad without permission. In his statement, the actor stated that the reason for going abroad was to visit relatives and take a short vacation.

On the contrary, after quitting his job at Hanoi Drama Theater, actor Hong Dang still continuously updates his daily life photos and trips with friends and family on his personal page.

Since then, Hong Dang has not returned to the screen while Ho Hoai Anh has appeared in some private events of friends and was behind some music programs of Mars Anh Tu and Hoang Thuy Linh but has not shown up.

Recently, the male musician appeared publicly at the event introducing the live show Revival, of which he is the General Director.

Previously, on the evening of October 22, Ms. Tran Tra My - the legal supporter for Hong Dang and Ho Hoai Anh in the case at the Palma de Mallorca Court, Spain - updated information about the case of the two artists being investigated in Spain.

Ms. Tra My said that the Palma de Mallorca Court decided to keep the file and conditionally suspend the case because it could not find evidence to prove the crime.

Sharing more about the process of meeting, discussing and learning about the incident over the past 2 years, Ms. My said: "We had analysis sessions and talked with Spanish lawyers. There were times when we were confused and anticipated possible developments, but then everything passed when the investigation agency could not provide any evidence to convict the two men.

As soon as they returned to Vietnam in early August 2022, the three brothers were very happy, but were still cautious not to announce it to the media while the case was still unresolved."

This person affirmed that last July, the Spanish Court issued a ruling not to continue the investigation, trial and decided to keep the case file because it could not find evidence to prove the crime.

The legal assistant of musician Ho Hoai Anh and actor Hong Dang also said that the anger and indignation of those who do not clearly understand the nature of the incident has taken the story too far.

When the media contacted Ms. My, she refused to comment or share more about the incident. As for Ho Hoai Anh and Hong Dang, up to now, both have not made any statements.

Lawyer Le Van Hoi (Myway Law Firm) said: "According to what the legal support person for the two artists Hong Dang and Ho Hoai Anh shared on their personal page about the case, it can be seen that the Spanish court suspended the case when there was no evidence of a crime against the two.

In this case, the Spanish court, once it has made a decision, only needs to notify the two artists or the artists' legal guardians without having to notify the authorities in Vietnam.
