Second, there is no provision that false advertising by celebrities will be aggravated or that other penalties will be applied, and all false advertisers will be dealt with according to the law.

"It is possible that the criteria in the upcoming Advertising Law will add some content related to celebrities for the first time. However, whether the National Assembly passes it or not is in the future," Mr. Tu Do affirmed.

Third, in the process of handling advertising violations, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information found that celebrities and KOLs have very poor legal understanding of advertising issues.

Also here, he said that during the past time in the process of handling artists and KOLs who advertised illegally, he felt sorry for Quang Linh Vlog's case.

"We are heartbroken by the recent case of Quang Linh Vlog getting into trouble with the law. He has done many good things but lacked legal knowledge so he had to bear criminal responsibility, which is very regrettable. We wish he had more legal knowledge to avoid such painfu.l consequences," said Mr. Tu Do.

According to Mr. Tu Do, celebrities have little knowledge of the law and are "artistic" so they often change things. Even when advertising products that "increase height dramatically", artists advertise that they are 5-10cm taller, which is "exaggerating" and "over the top".

"Many artists when advertising tend to change the assigned content, adding many details that are not in the original content, even making exaggerated statements. For example, if told about their outstanding height, they can arbitrarily add specific numbers without any basis" - Mr. Le Quang Tu Do informed.

The Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information added that artists often use images, equipment, costumes or names of medical units and agencies (doctors, nurses, medical staff), thank you letters from patients or articles by doctors for advertising, this is a prohibited act.

Previously, at the time of his temporary detention, Quang Linh Vlog said he was fully aware of his wrongdoings and apologized to his fans.

"I am aware of my illegal behavior and want to apologize to those who trust me and buy the product," Quang Linh Vlog said.

Responding to this content, People's Artist Xuan Bac, Director of the Department of Performing Arts, said that celebrities or anyone else must comply with the provisions of the law.

According to People's Artist Xuan Bac, anyone who advertises falsely will have regulations and laws to regulate wrongdoing.

"With Decree 38/2021 of the Government regulating administrative sanctions in the fields of culture and advertising, whoever makes a mistake will be punished there. If there is fraud, selling counterfeit goods or violating larger frameworks, artists will be held criminally responsible" - People's Artist Xuan Bac said.

People's Artist Xuan Bac added that with the Artists' Code of Conduct, the Department of Performing Arts has no sanctions for violations of this regulation.
