For many generations, Ong Temple is located on the left bank of the Ma River, in Quan Hoa town and Ba Cave is located on the right bank of the Ma River in Hoi Xuan commune, Quan Hoa district, considered a "strange" scenic spot in Thanh Hoa. Chemistry.
In Ong Temple and Ba Cave, there are two human-shaped stone statues worshiped by Thai ethnic people as two kings. According to historical records, Ong Temple and Ba Cave originated from a petrified love affair that left a lasting reputation.
Right in front of the temple gate there is a human-shaped stone statue. According to the ancestors, this statue is very strange. In the past, many armies, entourages or robbers were terrified every time they passed by. If you don't get off your horse or take off your hat, you will immediately vomit blood from your mouth.
It is this sacredness and mystery that no one dares to destroy and they consider the human-shaped stone statue as a saint, who must always be respected and worshiped.
According to the history books of the Thai people, long ago, there were two kings of Laos and Vietnam who became friends from a young age, sharing happiness and suffering together.
Growing up, they often went back and forth to visit each other like a pair of close friends and confidants. To keep their friendship forever intact, the two made a promise to each other that when their children grew up, the two families would become in-laws.
And their promise seemed to be blessed by the gods. The Vietnamese king gave birth to a handsome, handsome and intelligent prince, while the Lao king gave birth to a beautiful, modest and modest princess.
Even though each is the king of a country, the two still maintain the old bond of friendship and friendly neighborliness between the two countries.
Every time he visited Laos, the Vietnamese king often took his prince with him. When the prince and princess met, they fell in love. Fulfill the previous wish (if two families have a son, the daughter will become husband and wife). So, the son of the Vietnamese king married the daughter of the king of Laos and became a son-in-law who always lived in Laos.
Since becoming the son-in-law of Laos, his son-in-law has always been busy with many tasks. As the years passed, his nostalgia for his country, his father, and his brothers became more and more intense. Many times he asked the Lao king for permission to let the couple visit, but the Lao king insisted because he only had a daughter. The only thing is, I'm afraid that when I go back to my hometown, my husband won't come back.
And to keep his son-in-law, the king instructed his entourage to strictly monitor and guard him, and at the same time issued an edict according to the laws of the Kingdom of Laos if he arbitrarily fled or did not obey the king's orders. The king will be severely punished according to the laws of the kingdom.
Talking about a young couple. They loved each other dearly, never left each other's side, always had each other like a shadow. The princess always understood her husband's thoughts, on the other hand, she also wanted to visit her husband's hometown. The two discussed with each other that when the opportunity arose, they would escape their father and return to Vietnam.
On one occasion, the couple was sent by their father to inspect some areas. Before leaving, the king told his entourage to take strict care of the two people. But when they arrived, taking advantage of the tired entourage, the royal son-in-law held a party. Waiting until they were extremely drunk, the royal son-in-law and the princess left behind their horses and luggage through the forest, across streams, towards Vietnam. but go without stopping and don't turn back.
Talking about the entourage, after a day of sobering up, they could no longer see the sign of the husband and wife. They searched Sam Nua's land but could not find it, so they had to return to the capital to report to the king.
After learning about the incident, the Lao king was angry and immediately sent his men and horses straight to Vietnam to chase. The couple ran away forever and ended up on the banks of the Ma River.
After waiting a day and a night, there was still no sign of a boat. The couple was hungry and did not want the princess to suffer injustice because of them. The son-in-law hugged his wife and told him to stay in the cave and wait, then alone they connected the rope and crossed the river. pulled the raft to the other side as a bridge to take his wife across the river.
But when the royal concubine had just crossed the river, a dark cloud covered the entire area, the water of the Ma River rose, the waves splashed white foam, and the water boiled and roared.
The royal concubine stood on the left bank of the river, the princess on the right bank kept waiting for each other, calling each other's names forever in vain and then turned into stone statues.
After that day, in the area on the right bank of the river, at the foot of the mountain, people around the area saw a strange stone statue of a woman facing the other side of the left river that had never been seen before. Even more strange is that on the left bank of the Ma River, there is a stone statue of a man standing indifferently towards the right bank of the river.
Understanding the incident and being touched by the eternal and faithful love of the petrified couple, the people contributed to building a temple, called Ong Temple. The statue of a woman is called Ba cave.
After completion of construction, this temple became famous for its sacredness. If a group of people and horses passed by here without taking off their hats or dismounting from their horses, some would immediately fall and some would vomit blood from their mouths.
Therefore, many troops coming here must dress neatly, burn incense, pray and ask for blessings. Since then, for countless generations, the two human-shaped stone statues have been revered and worshiped by the people.
According to the village elders, no one can explain the appearance of these two strange human statues, one male and one female.
The male statue, which people often call the statue of a man, stands on the left bank, while the statue of a woman with long hair stands on the right bank. It is this thrill that makes people think of a beautiful love story about a husband who turns to stone and waits for his husband.
Previously, there was a man named Luong who was bedridden and paralyzed. He took countless medications but still could not get better.
One day, he dreamed of a stone statue. After thinking about the stone statue in Ba cave, he told his family about it. The special thing is, after the family prepared the ritual and brought it out to pray, before three weeks of incense had finished, he suddenly could move his arms and legs.
It is the belief in spirituality from those inexplicable real stories that makes tourists from all over hear the petrified love story of Ong Temple and Ba Cave, they come to worship more and more. When worshiping, they often worship at the husband's side - Ong temple first and then to the wife's side - Ba cave across the river.
