2 earth-shaking explosions in Nghe An: 6 neighboring houses evacuated, 2 people coming to clean up were injured
The family cremated the couple who died in the explosion and brought them home, but before they could bury them, a second explosion occurred.
Regarding the incident of two large explosions occurring in a house two days apart in Tam Hop commune, Quy Hop district, Nghe An province, which is causing a stir in public opinion, today (August 30), the authorities are blocking off the scene, so that the police and engineering troops can search for explosives there.
Local authorities said that initially, authorities determined that there were explosives at the scene, but the type of explosives was still undetermined. At the scene, many pieces of debris were scattered dozens of meters away, the house was severely damaged, and the walls collapsed.
In the newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quy Hop district, said that on August 27, after the explosion that killed Mr. HVQ (born in 1969) and his wife, Mrs. HTH (born in 1971), the family cremated the two victims and then brought them back to the house where the explosion occurred. Up to now, the ashes of Mr. Q. and his wife have not been buried.
On August 29, another big explosion occurred at the house, injuring two people hired to clean up. Specifically, at 4 p.m., while working, a loud explosion came from the rubble, causing Huy and Sang to fly several meters away, seriously injured. The two victims were taken to the hospital by local people. At the scene, the excavator was damaged. Smoke and dust from the materials filled the area.
According to the latest information, the health of these two people has gradually stabilized. The People's Committee of Quy Hop commune has blocked off 6 houses adjacent to the scene and evacuated all residents in these 6 houses to ensure safety.
Currently, the authorities are coordinating with the blockade engineering force to use dozens of the most modern ultrasonic devices to search for explosives at the scene. According to the leader of Tam Hop commune, the authorities suspect that there are mines under the rubble of Mr. Quang's house, and when the excavator touched it, an explosion occurred. The authorities have contacted the army to coordinate the handling.
"We have asked the Nghe An Provincial Military Command to support the locality in clearing mines and bombs to ensure the safety of the people," said the leader of Tam Hop commune.
Bomb and explosive accidents always leave very serious consequences, mainly due to people's subjectivity and lack of knowledge.
The war ended more than 40 years ago, but according to a survey by the Center for Bomb and Mine Disposal Technology (Engineering Command), every year about 2,000 people nationwide die due to bomb and mine accidents.
Of these, accidents caused by children playing and not knowing, causing explosions accounted for 38%. The number of cases caused by people discovering bombs, mines, explosives and sawing, chiseling to get scrap metal and explosives accounted for 30%. The number of cases caused by hoes, hammers, stepping on explosives accounted for 18%; random causes accounted for 10%. The victims of bomb and mine accidents are mainly people of working age and children. Even if the victims of bombs and mines are lucky enough to escape death, they will become disabled, a burden for their families and society.
Some typical cases include the horrific explosion at a scrap warehouse in Quan Do village (Van Mon commune, Yen Phong district, Bac Ninh province) that took the lives of Nguyen Tien Nam (1 year old) and Dang Thuy Trang (2 years old, both living in Quan Do village) and injured 9 people. The explosion collapsed 5 neighboring houses. Many other houses within a 500m radius had their roofs blown off and their windows broken. Rifle bullets appeared in many places.
On the same day, Bac Ninh police prosecuted and detained Mr. Nguyen Van Tien, the owner of the scrap collection facility, for illegally manufacturing, storing, transporting, using, and trading military weapons. According to Mr. Nguyen Tu Quynh, Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee, the initial cause of the explosion was determined to be due to people buying explosives here to process scrap, leading to the explosion.
