In March, related to the case, the Investigative Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security prosecuted 5 suspects by the Inter-sectoral Inspection Team and the State Bank Supervision Inspectorate.

In particular, C03 prosecuted Ms. Do Thi Nhan - former Director of Banking Inspection and Supervision Department II (Department II) under the Banking Inspection and Supervision Agency - the State Bank. In the Van Thinh Phat case, Ms. Do Thi Nhan - Head of the Inspectorate was prosecuted for the crime of "abusing position and power while performing official duties".

According to C03, Ms. Nhan and members of the Inspection Team conducted an inspection, but the report to the State Bank's leadership was not true, leading to untimely supervision and control of SCB.

"This is a serious violation, C03 has handled it," Major General Thanh said.

Previously, on October 7, 2022, C03 prosecuted and detained Ms. Truong My Lan - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Van Thinh Phat Group Joint Stock Company - and Truong Hue Van - General Director of Real Estate Management Group JSC. Windsor estate;

Nguyen Phuong Hong - assistant to Van Thinh Phat Group Joint Stock Company; Ho Buu Phuong - former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tan Viet Securities Joint Stock Company, former Deputy General Director in charge of finance of Van Thinh Phat Group Joint Stock Company.

All 4 people were investigated for the crime of "fraudulent appropriation of property".

According to the Ministry of Public Security, the accused and a number of people involved in this case died suddenly during the proceedings. A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security said that this creates a few more difficulties for the investigation, but with the determination of law enforcement forces "the nature will be clarified, the law will be strictly enforced". .

Ms. Truong My Lan and Van Thinh Phat Group have been well known since the end of 2011 when 3 banks SCB, De Nhat and Vietnam Tin Nghia conducted a merger.

At VTP Group Holdings, Ms. Lan owns 80% of the shares, equivalent to a contributed capital of VND 4,800 billion.

Truong Hue Van, wife Thanh Bui and her father, Mr. Truong Chi Trung, own 500 billion dong of contributed capital, equivalent to 8.33% of the shares. According to information in the press, Mr. Truong Chi Trung is Ms. Lan's brother.
