The case of the Lexus shipper and driver: Poor family, lost a hand, refused 500k compensation

Regarding the case of a male shipper being affected, which caused a stir in public opinion, Tay Ho District Police said that this unit has started investigating and clarifying information related to the case of a Lexus driver affecting a shipper in Hanoi.

In the latest development, Tay Ho District Police (Hanoi) said they are temporarily detaining Tong Anh Tuan (43 years old, residing in Phuong Liet Ward, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi) to investigate the act of intentionally causing injury.

The male shipper who was severely affected in this incident was Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung (31 years old). As a result of the incident, Mr. Hung suffered a concussion, with a 3% injury rate.

Sharing more with Vietnamnet, Ms. Nguyen Thi L. (wife of the affected male shipper) said that she is very worried about her husband's health.

Ms. L. shared that she and her husband are from Thanh Hoa, but due to difficult family circumstances, they came from their hometown to Hanoi to work for hire. She works for a small shop, and her husband works as a shipper for a cake manufacturing facility in alley 310/50 Nghi Tam (Yen Phu ward, Tay Ho district).

"My husband and I have two children and rent a house in Tay Ho district. Every day, we tell each other to work hard to earn an income to cover our living expenses," said Nguyen Thi L.

According to Ms. L, immediately after the incident, she took her husband to the hospital for examination, but the doctors required further monitoring.

Sharing more with Dan Tri about her husband's health, Ms. L. said, "Last night my husband was in pai.n and couldn't sleep, one eye was swollen so he couldn't see well." Ms. L. said sadly and hoped that the authorities would handle the case seriously.

Previously, at noon on February 10, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung was delivering cakes from a factory in alley 310 Nghi Tam, Yen Phu ward (Tay Ho district, Hanoi) when he had a mino.r collision with a Lexus car.

Immediately after the collision, the people in the car rolled down their windows and scolded Mr. Hung. Then, the driver got out of the car and argued with the male shipper.

After a few sentences, the man continuously physically impacted the male shipper.

As for the victi.m, he did not resist and just held his head and endured the beatin.g.

Although the incident happened nearly a day ago, many residents living in alley 310/50 Nghi Tam are still upset about the physical impact of the man driving the Lexus.

A person present at the scene at the time Mr. Hung was beaten said that after the Lexus driver attacked the male shipper, a woman in the car got out and gave Mr. Hung 500,000 VND, but the shipper resolutely refused to accept it.

Specifically, Ms. D. (an employee working at a facility in alley 310/50 Nghi Tam) said that at the time of the incident, the male shipper (delivery person) came to pick up cakes for a production facility inside the alley. When he just got out on the street, the gate of the facility closed and a Lexus car arrived.

"The car was driven by a man, going from alley 310/50 Nghi Tam to alley 119. At that time, the male shipper went from the bakery to the street but forgot the invoice so he had to stop and wait for the accountant of the establishment to bring it out. The man driving the car honked to ask the male shipper to back up to make way, but the male shipper could not back up because the gate was closed," Ms. D. recounted.

According to Ms. D., the male shipper had a hand amputated due to a previous work accident, so he had difficulty driving the motorbike. At the same time, because he had just received the goods, the motorbike was very heavy and difficult to maneuver.

"Before the male shipper could react, the person in the car rolled down the window and shouted loudly. The woman, the accountant of the facility, apologized to the people in the car and explained that the delivery man had been working since 5am and was tired, so she asked everyone to understand," said Ms. D.

Ms. D. added that despite apologizing in advance, the people in the car continued to yell at the male shipper, and the man driving the car quickly rushed in and hi.t the motorcyclist.
