Recently, the incident of female singer Ahn Yesong causing injury, causing a 50-year-old shipper to pass away and then fleeing has shocked the Korean media. Ahn Yesong was sentenced to 8 years in prison, however, netizens are still outraged by one incident.
On December 10, the Supreme Court in South Korea confirmed DJ Yesong's sentence, upholding the lower court's verdict on the charges and punishment. Accordingly, the female singer must serve an 8-year sentence for violating traffic laws causing tragic consequences.
In the first trial, when sentenced to 10 years, Yesong did not agree with the verdict and appealed to the court. However, the prosecutor's office affirmed that the case was very serious and the sentence could not be reduced. Ye Song fled the scene without any sign of helping the injured people from her speeding. In the second trial, female DJ Yesong quickly repented, admitted her wrongdoing, so her sentence was reduced to 8 years of "eating public food". According to the court, the defendant was not sober when driving and drove at a speed, ran a red light, caused a collision and then fled. However, Ye Song sincerely admitted her mistake and reached an agreement with the family of the unfortunate person, so her sentence was reduced to 8 years.
In February, DJ Yesong was found driving while intoxicated and collided with a motorcyclist in Gangnam, Seoul. The incident resulted in the death of a 50-year-old delivery man. Yesong then panicked and left the scene, without any intention of checking on the injured man she caused. The incident did not stop there, on the evening of February 27, Wikitree broke the news that former idol Ahn Yesong was actually the one who caused a series of traffic collisions in Seoul, not the one incident above. She had drunk too much on the day of the collision but was still speeding. After investigating, the police discovered that Yesong was trying to escape from another collision before injuring the 50-year-old driver.
After causing the collision, Yesong still calmly hugged his pet dog despite having just caused a fatal collision, and even refused to cooperate with the police. An indignant witness spoke up: "When the police tried to separate the dog from the woman, she said she didn't want to do that and even made a request, 'Let me talk to my mother,' and continued to argue with the police."
When causing controversy because of the scene of hugging the dog, the 10X female singer spoke up to explain: "I didn't see the shipper. I didn't even know I had hit the other person. There were a lot of people surrounding the car so I got out. At that time, my dog suddenly barked loudly. Everyone asked me to pick up the dog, so I hugged it."
The public outcry grew after the news broke. The prosecution reportedly received more than 1,500 petitions from the deceasedâs family and members of the Driversâ Association, of which the deceased delivery driver was a member. The petitions all focused on calling for a harsh sentence for Ahn Yesong.
Notably, Han Kyung reported that Ye Song's account was permanently deleted from a celebrity-only community group after the incident. The group is a closed community that only celebrities such as actors, idols, rappers, sports stars, professional gamers, models, YouTubers, and influencers can join after being screened. The group's operator announced in the community that the perpetrator of the collision was a member of the group and Ye Song's account was permanently deleted and expelled from the group for violating community guidelines.
DJ Yesong was born in 2000 and debuted at the age of 17 through the group INSTAR. The female idol worked for many years but was not noticed. After that, she switched to DJing.
