After having her phone snatched, a disabled woman in Tay Ninh died from the trauma. Her relatives could not help but grieve as they recounted the last moments of Ms. T.'s life, leaving everyone in tears.
In the bungalow where Ms. T.âs family lived, the atmosphere was filled with grief. Relatives and neighbors were still in shock at the sudden passing of the gentle woman who had suffered many disadvantages since childhood due to illness and congenital disabilities.
In the small room, the old mother was absent-minded, calling her child's name over and over again. Ms. T's sisters all choked up when remembering the last moments with their ill-fated sister.
Ms. Ngoc Anh choked up and said: "Since her phone was snatched away, she was very sad and refused to eat or drink anything. Even though her family tried their best to encourage her and take care of her every meal, she still refused to eat. On September 22, she was exhausted and passed away. I thought she just slept late that day as usual, but when I entered her room, I saw her lying still..."
According to Ms. Huyen Trang, the victim's younger sister, the psychological shock from the robbery has made Ms. T's already fragile health worse. "Normal people would panic if their phone was snatched, let alone her, who has weak nerves and is easily haunted. The phone was worthless, but it made her so sad that she collapsed," Ms. Trang shared.
The phone that the robber took was not the first one Ms. T. had used. Before that, due to illness and sudden seizures, she often dropped and broke her phone. Her family had to buy her a new one many times so that she could have entertainment and chat with people. "After the robbery, my sister bought a phone worth more than 4 million VND to comfort her. But before she could give it to her, she was no longer there," Ms. Anh cried.
In the memories of her relatives, Ms. T. was a person who suffered many disadvantages but was always close and sociable. She liked to sit in the yard and chat with neighbors, or laugh and joke with the children. With the phone in hand, she was even happier, sometimes giggling alone or mischievously calling the wrong neighbor to chat.
Ms. Trang recalls: "That afternoon she was robbed, the next morning I hurriedly went to buy a new phone for her. I just hoped she would be less sad. She often sat watching the grocery store in front of her house, calling out to anyone who passed by, and asking someone to calculate the price for her if they sold the wrong product. It was so simple, but that was her joy."
From a young age, Ms. T. has almost never left her mother's side. Her mother had to bring her every meal. The children in the house are also very attached to her, often playing around her. "Now, every time I say 'Where is Miss Hai', the children run to look for her, but she is no longer here..." Ms. Trang burst into tears.
The passing of Ms. T. not only left a big void in her family but also caused sympathy from neighbors and friends. Local people expressed their outrage at the cruel robbery, indirectly causing tragedy for a woman who had already suffered many misfortunes, and hoped that the authorities would take strong action to handle the case. Currently, Tay Ninh Provincial Police are continuing to expand the investigation and strictly handle the two suspects in accordance with the law.
