The case of the National Economics University being sued by alumni after 35 years, the court publicized the evidence

Regarding the case of Mr. Duong The Hao (born 1959, in Vinh Hung ward, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi) suing the National Economics University, demanding compensation of 36,969 billion VND, recently, the Judge of Hai Ba Trung district has just announced.

According to the court, the opening of a public hearing of evidence and mediation is necessary for the settlement of the case. The mediation session between Mr. Hao and the National Economics University will take place on the morning of December 17 at the headquarters of the People's Court of Hai Ba Trung district.

The Court sent a notice to Mr. Hao and the National Economics University - the legal representative is Mr. Pham Hong Chuong, Rector of the school. Judge Phan Thanh Ha said that if the notified person is not present at the time and place stated in the notice to participate in the meeting and mediation, the court will continue to settle the case in accordance with the provisions of the civil procedure law.

Previously, the People's Court of Hai Ba Trung district announced the acceptance of a civil case claiming compensation for non-contractual damages, according to the petition of Mr. Duong The Hao. The defendant is the National Economics University - the legal representative is Mr. Pham Hong Chuong, Rector of the school.

The reason for the lawsuit was that after completing the course, since 1989, Mr. Hao has not received a diploma and many important identity documents. It was only when he filed a lawsuit in court that in 2019 the school returned his diploma along with his personal documents and documents. Mr. Hao asked the National Economics University to pay compensation of VND 36,696 billion.

Regarding the issuance of bachelor's degrees and original papers, Mr. Hao initiated a lawsuit against the school to the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City. Hanoi. Stating his opinion on Mr. Duong The Hao's lawsuit to demand that the National Economics University compensate for damages and losses due to being kept for a long time with his bachelor's degree and original papers, the university's representative said: "The university's view is that everything must comply with the provisions of the law. The University respects the right of individuals to sue any organization or individual in accordance with the law."

Facing the school's information as above, talking to the press, Mr. Duong The Hao reacted: "The school has swapped the concept. The school was forced to pay my diploma and all the documents to me in court.

Mr. Hao also added that after the civil lawsuit, he will continue to petition the school to revise his diploma. Mr. Hao said that he himself graduated from university in 1989, while the National Economics University stated in his diploma in 1994.

In the petition sent to the court, Mr. Hao listed in detail the amounts required for compensation by the school, including: Loss of income from salary of 4.5 billion VND; loss of non-salary income of 1.5 billion VND; causing loss of spirit, prestige and honor of 2.5 billion VND; lost the opportunity to continue studying, fostering and improving professional skills 3.6 billion VND; lost the opportunity to enjoy policies and incentives for ex-servicemen of 2.7 billion VND; loss of ownership and disposition of essential assets of VND 7.5 billion.
