Mr. Nguyen Van Son, Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee, said that the information in the above clip is completely fabricated and untrue. According to Mr. Son, there have only been 100 cyclos in Hoi An for the past 20 years.

Similarly, there are only 300 boats on the Hoai River, and no more have been issued for the past 5 years. Cyclo drivers and boat rowers in Hoi An are mainly elderly, in poor health, and people in difficult circumstances, so the city does not collect any fees when issuing licenses.

A representative of the Hoi An Cyclo and Boat Association said that the cyclo association currently has 100 members, operating in the old town, since 1998. There are currently 293 boat boats, managed by the Hoai River Tourist Boat Cooperative, formerly the Minh An Ward Boat Self-Management Team, established in 2017.
