The case of a grandson attacking his grandmother and then setting fire to cover up the evidence in Hung Yen is receiving much public attention. The latest details have just been revealed by the authorities.

On March 19, the leader of Binh Minh commune said that the night before the incident, the grandchild had a conflict with his grandmother. From there, the authorities determined that the suspect may have used a sharp object to harm his grandmother and then set fire to destroy the evidence.

"The police arrested this young man at a game shop in the commune and are investigating to clarify the case and determine whether there are accomplices," the leader of Binh Minh commune informed. According to neighbors, there are only a grandmother and a grandchild living in the house, and the suspect's father is currently working in Japan.

On March 20, Hung Yen Provincial Police announced that the Investigation Police Agency of Hung Yen Provincial Police had issued an Order to detain people in emergency cases, arrest people in emergency cases, and a Decision to temporarily detain Nguyen Chu Thanh Tu (born in 2009, in Da Hoa village, Binh Minh commune, Khoai Chau district, Hung Yen province) and Le Gia Bao (born in 2010, residing in Phuoc Hiep quarter, Gia Dinh ward, Trang Bang town, Tay Ninh province) for the act of Murde.r, as prescribed in Article 123 of the Penal Code 2015 (amended and supplemented in 2017).

According to Hung Yen Provincial Police, at around 6:20 a.m. on March 19, after receiving a report from the public, a fire broke out at the house of Ms. NTL (born in 1952, in Da Hoa village, Binh Minh commune). Binh Minh Commune Police arrived at the scene of the fire and coordinated with the public to put out the fire.

During this process, the authorities discovered that Ms. L. had no signs of life in the pond behind the house. Her body had many wounds suspected to be caused by sharp objects, indicating signs of a crime.

Immediately after the serious case occurred, the Director of Hung Yen Provincial Police established a special project, directed forces and means, and used synchronous professional measures to investigate and arrest the criminals. After more than 10 hours of investigation, Hung Yen Provincial Police broke up the project and arrested two subjects who attacked Ms. NTL, Nguyen Chu Thanh Tu (Ms. L.'s grandson) and Le Gia Bao.

The investigation results determined that because Mrs. L. often scolded him for being addicted to playing games, not studying hard, and coming home late many times, Tu had the idea of sending his grandmother to the other world. After that, Tu hired Bao (a friend he met through playing online games) for 5 million VND and paid all of Bao's travel and food expenses to commit the crime together.

At around 3:30 a.m. on March 19, Bao went to Mrs. L's house to meet Tu. At this time, Tu gave Bao a knife and he also held one. The two climbed over the wall into the house and went into the kitchen. Tu made a noise that woke Mrs. L up and went into the kitchen. Bao was the one who made her fall down and lie motionless.

Tu searched Mrs. L's pocket and took 180,000 VND, then together with Bao, dragged his grandmother's body and drowne.d it in the pond behind the house. After committing the crime, the two subjects wiped and cleaned the bloo.d stains in the kitchen, Bao took the motorbike from Mrs. L's house and left, Tu stayed behind and set fire to the kitchen and the house to erase the traces. Currently, the case is being further investigated, clarified and strictly handled by the Investigation Police Agency of Hung Yen Province Police according to the provisions of law.
