Because of the act of letting money cover his eyes, a man in Tay Ninh does not hesitate to "hands down" with his close friend. It was also from here that he "broke" a lesson that had to be sacrificed from his own life.
For many people in Tan Bien town (Tan Bien, Tay Ninh), they have probably heard the story of two close friends like blood and blood, suddenly "turned around" because of only 6 jackpot winning lottery tickets that happened 20 years ago. Even now, some elderly people still remember the incident that year.
Accordingly, Mr. C. (SN 1942) and a friend went to collect their pension and then turned into a pub "changing the wind". There, he called Mr. T. (SN 1956), a comrade who had stood by him in many battles, to drink and talk about the past.
While eating his cup, Mr. C. bought the girl a 10-sheet lottery ticket and stuffed it into his pocket with 100,000 VND and continued to drink. Mr. T. then twice prowled Mr. C.'s pocket in an attempt to steal money and lottery tickets but failed. Mr. T. waited for Mr. C. to get drunk and put both money and 10 lottery tickets in his pocket, returning home without anything happening.
In the afternoon of the same day, the girl selling lottery tickets ran to the pub to report that 10 tickets Mr. C. bought in the morning had 6 winning jackpots. The owner heard this, and hurriedly informed Mr. C., but when he searched his pocket, he did not find any ticket.
At this point, he ran to Mr. T.'s house to inquire but did not mention that he had won the lottery. He said, "Uncle T.! There's a hundred thousand bill with some lottery tickets in your pocket, now pay me." Hearing this, Mr. T. joked, "Did you hit the jackpot or what?" and went into the house to find the number.
At that time, a lottery ticket seller passed by, so Mr. T. ran out to find out the number or 6 special prize winning sheets with a total value of up to 300 million VND. Overcome with greed, he immediately turned his face and refused to return the 6 number sheets to his friend.
Talking about the incident, Mr. C. said: "I didn't expect Mr. T. to be so greedy. He also called me the one who saw the money blinding, saw winning the lottery for robbery. I didn't steal anything from him, it was mine. I heard too much that day and left hoping he would think twice and pay some lottery tickets.
But the more I waited, the more I saw nothing. I went to my friend's house to confide in him when I found out that he had received a reward of 275 million VND and bought 10,000 USD to send to the bank."
At this point Mr. C. went into the water to say better words to Mr. T. and persuaded him to return the lottery winnings. He even mentioned litigation. But Mr. T. refuses to pay, kicking you out of the house. So Mr. C. decided to ask the law to intervene.
"The court sentenced him to 8 years, he was detained in the district but was released half a month later because his liver disease was so severe that his body was pale and sick. Back home, he thought even more when he saw that his children and grandchildren were still angry, and the village was talking in and out. He drank until he died," Mr. C. lamented.
Regarding the lottery winnings, Mr. C. said that after the lawsuit, he received back the entire amount of VND 275 million, while the bank interest of $ 10,000 he did not receive. He then spent all the money winning the lottery to rebuild the old dilapidated house.
For many people, winning the lottery is considered lucky when they suddenly receive money "falling from the sky". However, in some cases, winning the lottery has become a source of tragedy because human greed is very unpredictable.
In addition to Mr. C.'s story, in the West there is Mr. H. (TP. Ca Mau, Ca Mau) also fell into tragedy when winning a jackpot of 7 lottery tickets, totaling VND 350 million, equivalent to 800 taels of 24K gold at that time. From the ragged loincloth, he became a giant, starting to live the life of a person with money.
It is known that Mr. H. was born and raised in a poor peasant family in Dam Bat district, suffering from hunger and thirst all year round. He then followed his family to the city, choosing the profession of rented freight ferry as his livelihood. The burden of food and hard work made the Ca Mau man depressed.
That day, before the lottery draw, Mr. H. was offered by the lottery ticket girl and begged to buy it. He heard that he had bought 7 sheets, not thinking about being lucky... knocking on doors. Suspiciously, they all won the grand prize with a total value of 350 million VND.
Suddenly having a large sum of money, Mr. H. went from being a ragged loincloth to becoming a giant overnight. But he didn't buy or build new houses, he didn't save as personal capital, he didn't gamble and drink. The only thing he was fascinated with and interested in was women selling pollen flowers.
After only one year of winning the jackpot, Mr. H.'s remaining money was not enough to eat noodles for ten days. However, he still did not wake up, instead of making a living, he plunged into buying the lottery with the belief that he would be knocked on the door by the god of luck for the 3rd time in his life. But... he waited forever and only got zero back," Mr. H.'s cousin said.
Without money, Mr. H. had to take out usury loans to fund his daily expenses. He didn't sink into much debt when his mother gave interest to his children. So he scrambled to find a livelihood, looking for a friend who bought the old canoe to continue with his childhood profession.
