Recently, on social media, a post appeared by Mr. Nguyen Tan Tai (in Cam Le district, Da Nang city), sharing about his charity group discovering some gold in a box of goods sent by a benefactor in Da Nang to support people in Lao Cai.
It is known that Mr. Tai's group has transported relief boxes to Lao Cai and is sorting them in Xuan Thang commune, Bao Yen district. According to Mr. Tai's post, the carton containing the bag of gold has the words "Tan Khang Group supports the people of the North, keep it up!" written on the outside.
He also shared a part of the image of the bag of gold so that the owner could be identified. Mr. Tai's sharing caused a stir on social networks, hoping that this asset would soon find its owner. The group also reported the incident to the police.
According to Tuoi Tre Online, the group asked to connect with Colonel Tran Van Thong, Chief Representative of the Military Radio and Television Center in Da Nang, to help find clues.
From the notebook inside the box, which had the names and schools of the two students, and through verifying the relevant information, Colonel Thong connected with Ms. Phan Thi Dao (on Ho Xuan Huong Street, Da Nang). Ms. Dao said that she was the owner of the gold mentioned above, and accurately described what was inside the box and the bag of gold.
Ms. Dao said that on the night of September 14, she took a cardboard box and sat in her room to pack her nephew's clothes and books to send to flood victims the next day. While packing, her nephew sitting next to her took a cloth bag containing gold and put it in the box without Ms. Dao knowing. When she discovered the bag of gold was missing, Ms. Dao did not think it was in the relief goods. She lost her appetite and sleep, and did not dare tell her husband.
Currently, Ms. Dao has authorized her nephew in the North to complete procedures with the police to receive the lost jewelry.
A few days ago, according to Tuoi Tre Online, on the afternoon of September 15, Major Le Ngoc Hai (head of Ca Dinh Commune Police, Doan Hung District, Phu Tho) said that the unit had just verified and, together with the people, returned a gold ring to the person who left it in a shirt sent to people in the flood area.
According to Major Hai, on the evening of September 13, Ca Dinh Commune Police received a report from Ms. Dang Thi Yen (Ca Dinh Commune) that while sorting clothes to bring to people in flood-hit areas, she and her volunteer group discovered a gold ring left in her pocket and asked the commune police to verify and find the owner to return it.
"People from neighboring communes donated clothes and supplies for the volunteer group to bring to the people in the flooded areas. When rearranging their belongings and clothes, Ms. Yen and the volunteer group discovered a ring in her jacket pocket with a gold guarantee document.
That same evening, Ca Dinh Commune Police coordinated with police from neighboring communes to find the person who left the gold ring. After identifying the person who left it, on the morning of September 14, the Commune Police and Ms. Yen returned the gold ring to its owner," said Major Hai.
According to Major Hai, when receiving the gold ring back, the owner said that because they did not wear it, they put it in a box and put it in their jacket. They did not notice it for a long time, so when they brought the jacket to donate, they did not remember.
The leader of Ca Dinh Commune Police also highly appreciated the people returning the gold ring to its owner.
"This is a very humane act and deserves to be set as an example," Major Hai added.
Over the past two days, netizens have shared and showered compliments on the kindness of Ms. Yen and her volunteer group who were sorting clothes when they discovered a box containing a gold ring.
According to the image in the clip, a woman said she had just found a gold ring and a receipt in the pocket of a yellow coat. "There is a gold ring in the pocket, whoever is the owner, we would like to return it," the woman said.
After being posted, the clip attracted millions of views on social networks and received compliments about the "honesty, noble humanity, very humane work..." of Ms. Yen as well as the volunteer group.
