Just a few minutes later, the video attracted thousands of views. On Facebook, many accounts shared the video, expressing their anger at the YouTube channel owner's "view-baiting" behavior.
On the evening of September 16, social media was abuzz with images of an animated video titled "Karma in Lao Cai's Nu Village" posted on YouTube. The incident made many people angry.
Specifically, the YouTube channel named "Little Lessons" with more than 324,000 followers posted an animated video called "Karma - Fairy tales - Little lessons - Gifts of life". Notably, this video has an illustration with the caption "Karma of Nu Village, Lao Cai". This has made the online community angry.
However, the content of the 42-minute video does not mention any information related to Lang Nu (Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province). Below the comment section, the owner of this Youtube channel also left a message: "Have you seen the retribution for eating pythons in Lang Nu?".
According to the investigation, Mr. Vien Hong Quang (29 years old, living in Hanoi) is one of the people who discovered the video posted by the channel "Little Lessons". According to Mr. Quang, the channel initially posted the video with the name "Qua ban Lang Nu Lao Cai - Fairy tales - Little lessons - Gifts of life". After that, the channel owner changed the title and illustration as well as locked the comments.
"The first video they left was 42 minutes and 15 seconds long with the title mentioning the tragic incident that happened in Lang Nu. However, they then cut the first 1-2 minutes and changed the thumbnail and title, leaving it at 41 minutes and 36 seconds long. I think this is an unacceptable act of attracting likes and views, especially when the tragic incident just happened in Lao Cai," said Mr. Quang.
According to Mr. Quang, the video was initially hidden from the Vietnamese region, but after cutting the first part and changing the thumbnail, it was made public. It is now completely hidden on YouTube. The original content of this video is about 3 foreign stories, unrelated to the Lang Nu incident, but the shocking title causes outrage.
Notably, this Youtube channel regularly posts animated videos with educational content for children.
Mr. TTT (22 years old, from Quang Ngai) said: "I saw the image people shared at 11 pm. I think the authorities need to clarify the incident to determine whether or not they are using tragic incidents to attract interactions on social networking platforms. This is a pressing issue, causing public outrage."
According to Mr. D.HT (23 years old, from Lam Dong), he hopes that the authorities will soon clarify the above image. "During the sensitive storm and flood period, the whole country is looking towards the North, which is suffering the severe consequences of Typhoon Yagi, and some individuals are using the loss of their compatriots to attract interaction on social networks. I hope that the inter-sectoral agencies and organizations will soon clarify this issue" - Mr. T. was indignant.
"Why is it that while the whole country is grieving over the loss of Lang Nu, this Youtube channel can still attract views with such an extremely offensive title?", commented MN.
TH account shared: "I hope the local authorities will intervene to deal with the owner of this Youtube channel. The channel specializes in posting educational videos for children but has taken offensive actions, reported false information, and affected viewers."
A few hours after posting, the YouTube channel owner removed the video from the page.
