"We have to realize that this is very dangerous, is the cause of the epidemic prolonging. If the epidemic is not controlled, it will get worse, forcing us to apply stronger and higher measures. affects many aspects," said Mr. Phong.

The head of the city government said that the city had previously proposed 3 scenarios after the end of 15 days of social distancing according to Directive 16. In the past time, despite trying very hard, the city failed to achieve the target. As the first scenario is to control the epidemic, the second scenario is to strengthen strong measures and tighten directive 16. On the evening of July 25, the Ministry of Health announced 2,227 new cases of infection in Ho Chi Minh City, bringing the total number of infections recorded in the day to 4,555 cases.
