Trong Nhan: 2 times transforming into the late artist Vu Linh, every time he sings, people cry

In the cai luong stage, there is recently a young artist named Trong Nhan. He appeared as a star phenomenon with all the qualities of a professional "cai luong singer".

Trong Nhan was born in 2004, in a family where no one was in the arts. Since childhood, he has always actively participated in performing arts activities at school. At the ag.e of 12, Nhan began studying and practicing at the District 8 Amateur Music Club with teacher Minh Duc. When he saw the Super Kid Talent Show advertised on TV, his parents registered Nhan to compete in modern music, but in the end, Trong Nhan tried his hand at Ho Quang reformed opera and won 3rd prize.

At the program, Nhan had the chance to meet and work with artist Binh Tinh. This was the bridge that two years later, Trong Nhan officially joined the Huynh Long Traditional Opera Troupe of the female artist, participating in professional performing activities. To improve his skills, Trong Nhan regularly watches classic opera plays, learns from the artists in the troupe, hones his singing voice, acting techniques, how to grasp and express the psychology of the characters, and dance forms...

Up to now, he has been with the Huynh Long Traditional Opera Troupe for 7 years, participating in dozens of plays, making an impression on the audience through the roles: Duong That Lang in Duong Gia Tuong, San Ha in Duong Van Quang in Thap Tu Nu Anh Hao, Trieu Phuong in Xu An Phi Giao... In 2022, young artist Trong Nhan participated in the National Opera Festival with the play Vuong Quyen, playing the role of Crown Prince Nguyen Phuc Dan, winning a silver medal. In 2024, at the National Opera Festival held in Can Tho City, Trong Nhan participated in the play Tay Son Nu Tuong, playing the role of King Canh Thinh, receiving the Promising Young Actor awar.d.

When asked about trying his hand at Vietnamese historical plays, Trong Nhan admitted that he had to train himself a lot. Besides learning performance skills, choreography, etc., Nhan also had to learn more historical knowledge about the events and characters he played to grasp the essence of the role.

Recently, the male artist has been highly appreciated by the audience and experts when he played the role of the warrior Le Liem, a patriotic hero in cloth, fightin.g against the Ming army, in the historical play Ben nuoc ngu bo (poetic drama: Hoang Cong Khanh, edited by: Vo Tu Uyen, director: Nguyen Chien Thang), bringing many beautiful emotions to a large audience.

Artist Trong Nhan shared: "With the art of Cai Luong theater, I did not choose the profession but the profession chose me and I am extremely happy with the achievements I have achieved. Recently, Cai Luong theater activities in Ho Chi Minh City have improved a lot and especially received the attention of young people. Many of our troupe's performances have very young audiences, middle and high school students, but they have actively followed the performance schedule and bought tickets to watch."

In 2022, Trong Nhan attracted attention when he reenacted the play Luong Son Ba - Chuc Anh Dai by Meritorious Artist Vu Linh, which moved Meritorious Artist Thoai My and artist Thanh Hang. In the excerpt Luong Son Ba - Chuc Anh Dai by author Duc Phu, Trong Nhan transformed into Meritorious Artist Vu Linh.

This performance made Meritorious Artist Thoại Mỹ burst into tears, the female judge shared: "A performance of a lifetime by Meritorious Artist Vũ Linh. For more than twenty years, Mỹ has not performed this play with him and he will no longer perform this play. When practicing this play, Mỹ and Ms. Hằng had a very hard time and were beaten a lot. Being trained by Mr. Vũ Linh, when Trọng Nhân sang, so many memories came flooding back, and it was so new that I wondered why I could not see him sing anymore. Today, seeing Trọng Nhân's image made Mỹ emotional because it was like a Vũ Linh was performing on stage."

Artist Thanh Hang also continued: "Remembering the years 91-92, Thanh Hang and Thoai My were trained a lot by Mr. Nam Vu Linh. Before joining the Tran Huu Trang troupe, Hang was already a leading actress in the Western opera troupes, but it must be said that today the name Thanh Hang is known to the audience more thanks to the role of Chuc Anh Dai that Mr. Nam trained Hang...". The female judge also burst into tears remembering: "Remember when I pulled the curtain back and Mr. Nam called 'Anh Dai', the word 'oi' of his voice broke at the end, Trong Nhan sang exactly the same, not a bit different...".

Also in 2022, in the Idol Artist program, the excerpt Giang Son My Nhan was performed by Trong Nhan (incarnated as Meritorious Artist Vu Linh) with artist Bao Ngoc. Trong Nhan's performance as Ngo Phu Sai was praised for his acting, however, the judges commented that this contestant sang more in his own way than Meritorious Artist Vu Linh.

Judge Thoại Mỹ commented: "Trong Nhan is the youngest contestant in this program who dared to play a very important role of Mr. Vu Linh. In fact, this role of Mr. Vu Linh left a deep impression on the audience. He did not sing like Mr. Vu Linh, but he handled many words like his idol. Besides, he also observed carefully, so his demeanor was very similar to Mr. Vu Linh. Although today he handled it almost the same but not exactly the same, Ms. Mỹ praised his demeanor and appearance when playing this role."

Agreeing with her junior, artist Thanh Hang said that in this performance, the demeanor was similar but the voice tone was not yet audible. "I feel like this role is Trong Nhan, not Vu Linh," the female artist commented. Meanwhile, Kim Tu Long frankly pointed out the places where the contestant sang differently, and demonstrated how to speak with emphasis in martial arts plays to help Trong Nhan gain experience in his career.
