Preliminary information from the local government said that 2 children were found on the roof of the 3rd floor of the classroom of Lao Chai Primary School, Hoang Lien commune, Sapa town.
According to Mr. Ly's account. A. P, on the afternoon of June 29, he and S. invited each other to go to the stream to catch fish. In the late afternoon of the same day, both children returned to Lao Chai Primary School to catch birds. After climbing to the rooftop of the classroom, the two were trapped and could not get down.
Because it was during the summer holidays, there were few people around the school area, so although the 2 children called for help, no one found out about the incident.
Unable to see the 2 children go home, suspecting that they went to the stream to catch fish swept away by the flood, the family notified the local authorities for support in searching. A force of about 150 people was mobilized. However, after many hours, there was still no trace of the 2 grandchildren.
On the morning of July 2, teachers and security guards of Lao Chai Primary School came to open the school warehouse door to get cooking supplies for the commune's search force, suddenly heard the sound of children crying for help above, so they immediately went to check and discovered that 2 children were missing more than 3 days earlier.
After being taken home and taken to Sa Pa Town General Hospital for medical care, the 2 children's health was stable, they ate and talked with everyone.
It is known that the children are safe after more than 3 days without food thanks to the water tank to drink in the area where they are trapped.
Previously, at about 10 a.m. on June 30, the People's Committee of Sa Pa town received information from the People's Committee of Hoang Lien commune about 2 H'Mong children, Ly A Pao (born in 2014) and Ly A So (born in 2017), going fishing together in the stream area near their house in Lao Hang Chai village. Hoang Lien commune and lost contact from the afternoon of June 29.
Immediately after receiving the information, the local government mobilized 150 people including police, military, teachers and people to assist in the search.
Rescue forces have deployed to search for 2 children along Muong Hoa stream, in the area of Hoang Lien, Cau May, Ta Van communes. After 4 days of searching, on the morning of July 2, the functional forces discovered 2 children trapped at Lao Chai Primary School (Lao Hang Chai village, Hoang Lien commune).
The leader of Hoang Lien commune said: "The children went into the ground floor and the outside door collapsed, so they could not get out. The location where the 2 children were found is about 10km from the commune center."
Due to their long-term disappearance, they were very hungry and panicked. Therefore, the authorities have not asked for more detailed information. However, the leader of Hoang Lien commune said that currently, the health of both children is basically stable.

By the afternoon of April 8, by professional measures, the police found and brought the 2 children back to their families safely.
