One of the famous "foodies" in Korea has surprised the online community when revealing his weight after just one meal. Many people can't believe it's true.
HeeBab (28 years old) is known as a content creator who specializes in making famous mukbang videos (eating and filming at the same time) in Korea. Her eating videos often attract millions of views and bring in billions of dong in income each year.
HeeBab's YouTube channel was launched in December 2019 and currently has more than 1.65 million followers. In 2023, on a TV show, the mukbanger surprised everyone when she revealed that each employee in her team was paid 12 million won (more than 217 million VND)/month.
"My team and I have been together since the early days. My income mainly comes from product advertising. Each advertising contract is worth a lot, equivalent to the price of a mid-size car in Korea," she shared.
Until the recent episode of E-Bap Three Meals on E-channel, HeeBab caused even more shock when talking about her weight change after just 1 meal. Specifically, the Korean "foodie" said that in an eating challenge, she gained 4.8kg in about 2 hours.
Before the challenge, HeeBab met with producer Lee Young Sik and shared her unique idea of using a scale to track her weight before and after eating. Stepping on the scale, she said her weight before eating was 50.4kg and confidently accepted the challenge: "Let's see how my weight changes after just two hours."
The challenge took place right on the bustling streets of Hongdae (Seoul, South Korea) and HeeBab had to find teammates to enjoy grilled eel with. She approached a couple on the street and invited them to join her. Once inside the restaurant, the mukbanger wasted no time and immediately ordered 5 servings of marinated eel.
After the meal started, HeeBab ordered more eel, eel rice, and even a special sized portion. Her companions gradually became full and could only watch in amazement as she continued eating. In the end, she chose to enjoy salmon rice and miso soup.
At the end of the challenge, her teammates guessed that HeeBab might have gained 2kg, but the measurement results showed that her weight had changed significantly from 50.4kg to 55.2kg, which is an increase of 4.8kg. When sharing this experience, the mukbanger admitted that she did not feel like she had eaten enough to gain nearly 5kg.
"I think I can even eat more, maybe gain up to 7kg," she said. This statement from the Korean "eating saint" surprised the show's viewers. Many netizens after hearing it could not believe it was true.
Speaking more about mukbang, this is a trend of broadcasting eating scenes originating from Korea and is now popular all over the world. The most famous mukbangers often show off their ability to "eat like crazy". However, according to experts and doctors, consuming too much food in a short period of time and an unhealthy diet (mainly fast food), lacking moderation of mukbangers can cause many health problems such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular problems...
On July 14, mukbanger Pan Xiaoting (24 years old, China) suddenly died on live stream. The cause of this heartbreaking end was determined to be overeating. The autopsy results showed that her abdomen was severely deformed and her stomach was full of undigested food.
Further on June 14, Dongz Apatan (37 years old) - a vlogger in Iligan City, Philippines with 460,000 followers, also suddenly passed away while streaming eating. However, the cause of his death was different from the above case, which was a heart attack and he fell into a coma before dying from a hemorrhagic stroke. A day before the incident, this person had posted a video of himself cooking and then eating many pieces of fried chicken with white rice.
