According to Ms. KL (the owner of the 6-story house), upon returning home after the Lunar New Year holiday, she was surprised to find a female student renting a room sleeping on her and her husband's bed on the 5th floor, even wearing the homeowner's clothes.
Speaking to reporters, Ms. L. said that her family lives on the 5th floor, the 6th floor is used as a shared drying area for students renting rooms, and the 4 floors below are rented out. The female student involved in the incident is HT (born in 2006), currently a first-year student at a college, who had only moved to rent a room on the 2nd floor less than a month ago.
According to Ms. L., on the night of the incident, when she opened the door to her room on the 5th floor, she was shocked to see T. lying on her bed. "I opened the door and saw her lying on my and my husband's bed, still wearing my clothes. When asked, she said she got carsick and went into the wrong room because the lights weren't on," Ms. L. recounted.
The landlord stated that the family's room was unlocked at the time. However, she emphasized that getting from the second to the fifth floor requires using either the stairs or the elevator, and the rented room's location was completely different from the family's living space. Therefore, she found the "wrong room" explanation unconvincing.
Regarding the female student, she stated that she had just returned to Hanoi from her hometown after a gathering with friends and was feeling tired. According to T., she mistakenly took the elevator to the 6th floor (where clothes are hung to dry) and then went down the stairs, confusing it with her previous rented room. In her dazed state, she mistakenly entered a room on the 5th floor and fell asleep.
"When I pressed her for an explanation, she was uncooperative, insisting she had the wrong room. I couldn't understand how she could have mistaken the room for the 5th floor when it was supposed to be on the 2nd floor," Ms. L. said angrily. That same evening, she asked T. to move out. However, the student asked to stay another night to wait for her family to come from their hometown to resolve the issue.
Overwhelmed with worry for her family's safety, Ms. L. livestreamed the incident on social media. The video quickly went viral and attracted significant attention. Many people expressed concern and questioned security issues in student housing areas. Netizens even quickly identified the female student in the clip, claiming she was a TikToker with over 100,000 followers. The account subsequently disabled comments.
Following a wave of criticism, the female student posted a video explaining the situation. She asserted that the incident was merely an accident caused by fatigue and confusion. According to her, when the homeowner discovered the situation, Ms. L. immediately livestreamed it without fully listening to her initial explanation. However, after both calmed down, they sat down and talked, understanding that it was an unintentional incident, and took a photo to reconcile so she could send it to her family for reassurance.
However, according to the student, videos of the incident continued to be posted publicly even after she moved out, affecting her life and mental well-being. She expressed her wish for the landlord to clarify that the matter had been resolved that same day.
"I don't know if she's intentionally trying to get content or views, but this is affecting my life a lot. I need a clear explanation and I hope she'll make a video confirming that everything is settled," the female student said in the clip.
