The cast of the play "Beauty Queen Island" surprised audiences and sparked widespread discussion when tickets for the two March performances sold out within minutes of going on sale, despite increasing seating capacity by moving the performance venue to the Ben Thanh Theater.

The online ticketing system recorded that at times, more than 8,000 people were queuing to buy tickets while the total number of seats was only about 1,000 - a figure that led many to liken the ticket-grabbing competition to "even more intense than taking a university entrance exam".

The appeal of "Miss Island" is said to stem from its charming cast, familiar to the audience, including BB Tran, Ngoc Phuoc, Hai Trieu, and other artists, creating a captivating entertainment atmosphere. Audiences are not only excited by the entertaining performances but also by the element of surprise: each show may feature famous guest appearances such as Huong Giang, Minh Hang, or Pham Quynh Anh, and even anonymous judges who directly ask questions to the contestants on stage, making the experience of watching the play feel like participating in a real beauty pageant.

Beyond the investment in acting, the costumes for the play were also meticulously crafted like an elaborate fashion show, with contestants and actors wearing outfits prepared by renowned designers, each night presenting a new and unique look. According to the director, these costumes were largely borrowed from designers, creating a "visual feast" that captivated the audience.

Because of its immense appeal, many theater enthusiasts have continuously expressed their regret on social media for not being able to buy tickets. Many social media users have compared the difficulty of securing tickets to "Miss Island" to that of getting tickets to a major international concert, with some jokingly saying they successfully "hunted for tickets to Taylor Swift's tour" but couldn't buy tickets to the play in Vietnam. Others have questioned the online community about effective ticket purchasing methods or whether the play actually exists or is just a rumor.

Due to overwhelming demand for tickets, the black market for theater tickets has become very active. Tickets with prime seating are being resold at prices many times higher than the original price. For example, on the official ticket distribution platform, a ticket for an upper-seat section is listed at 350,000 VND, but when resold on the black market, it can fetch up to 3.5 million VND – about 10 times the original price. Many people even pay up to 900,000 VND for a pair of tickets, while the actual price ranges from only 250,000 to 350,000 VND per ticket.

The situation of overpriced black market tickets, coupled with counterfeit tickets and fraudulent bank transfer schemes, has prompted organizers to issue a warning. The Youth Theatre has previously issued an urgent notice advising fans to be vigilant, avoid buying tickets on the black market, and only transact through official distribution channels to protect their rights and avoid falling victim to scams.

The intense demand for tickets to the "Miss Island" event, with tickets selling out immediately upon release and a black market offering exorbitant prices, reflects the significant appeal of theatrical arts in an increasingly diverse entertainment landscape, surprising and sparking debate among performing arts enthusiasts.
