In the movie Battle Song, initially, artist Anh Thai's role only appeared briefly. But seeing that he performed well in the role of a wounded soldier, director Tran Dac added and edited the script a bit so that artist Anh Thai's supporting role could have more acting space.

The film, produced by the Vietnam Feature Film Studio, tells the story of Nam (Dung Nhi) - a young soldier who was seriously injured in a battle and was taken to the military hospital for treatment. At that time, he faced the darkest days of his life. On the fighting path of Nam and his teammates, the youthful memories of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the Fatherland appeared emotionally.

With the movie Ms. Dau released in 1980, Meritorious Artist Anh Thai conquered the audience with the skinny and sick character of Mr. Dau. The film is adapted from the novel Lights Out by Ngo Tat To. Ms. Dau and Vu Dai Village That Day (1982) and Fire in the Middle (1961) helped director Pham Van Khoa receive the State Award for Literature and Arts.

After a long time playing supporting roles, the name of artist Anh Thai is known to a large audience. He also tried his hand at being a director at the Youth Studio, part of the Vietnam Feature Film Studio.

In 1985, he made the film When You're Away, the script is based on a short story by poet Xuan Quynh. The film won the Silver Lotus Award at the 7th Vietnam Film Festival. After that, he began working on the film Behind the Door on the topic of police, scripted by poet Hoang Nhuan Cam.

After retiring, Meritorious Artist Anh Thai rarely acted in films. He mainly took on small but profound roles that were remembered by the audience.

In 2006, the TV series Judgment became a craze on the small screen. Meritorious Artist Anh Thai plays a small role as Mr. Can - the grandfather of male lead Cao Thanh Lam (Viet Anh).

Mr. Can once participated in the resistance war, then held the position of provincial chairman. He lived his entire life with integrity and integrity, and was loved by many people. After retiring, he kept a simple lifestyle. His pride is that his son Cao Duc Cam holds the position of deputy minister. His grandson Cao Thanh Lam invested in studying abroad. In 2012, Meritorious Artist Anh Thai accepted the role of Mr. Kim - the founder of the Hoang Kim Group in the movie Rainbow of Love. This is the longest-running drama the male artist has participated in, up to nearly 100 episodes.

In the film, Meritorious Artist Anh Thai once again successfully portrayed the eldest and most authoritative character in the family. After Rainbow of Love, Meritorious Artist Anh Thai was almost absent from the small screen. On June 15, the male artist passed away at his home, at the age of 87.

"In the movie, I play the role of uncle Anh Thai's grandson. Anh Thai and I also had many scenes together. During the making of the movie, we took almost 1-2 takes to finish, without having to do much back and forth. "My character is a grandfather who loves his grandchild very much, so scolding him is also a loving scolding, gentle and not harsh," Viet Anh recounted.
