Recently, a woman named HLT (39 years old, from Hai Phong city, a victim of scams via dating apps) has just shared her heartbreaking story. She said, after knowing an object through Tinder, she was scammed by him to lose the amount of 6 billion. She said:
"When the chat time was enough for me to believe and love, in early December 2020, Jacky invited me to invest in MMCoin. Until the end of March, I was like a person who lost all reason, every day making transactions up. up to billions of dong. When I discovered that I had been scammed, I had deposited over 6 billion dong there." She is currently a single mother, has 2 children and according to her share, 6 billion is the amount of money saved to take care of the children's future.
After Ms. T. trusted and handed him nearly 6 billion VND, this guy disappeared without leaving any trace. Losing both money and love, the single mother broke down and cried a lot.
She said: "My parents have to mortgage their house to have money to lend me, even, my sister has to prove her income so that she can borrow money from a bank and then take that money for me to invest. I also took out a hot loan many times. with an interest rate of 5%/day to have money deposited into my account in the hope that I can then withdraw the money I invested in. In the end, I just received nothing. I not only lost my savings, but also made my parents and sister debtors... Many times I couldn't accept that fact. If I didn't think about my children, I would have committed suicide."
Sharing about this issue, lawyer Nguyen Van Hau, Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association, said that if the offender is Vietnamese, he will be criminally responsible because Forex has not been recognized in Vietnam. . However, if these subjects are foreigners, it depends on whether their country recognizes Forex or not because some countries are allowed to trade Forex such as the US, UK, Italy, Cyprus, Australia, Canada, Japan. , Malta, Indonesia, Switzerland, Germany and most countries in Central Europe, Eastern Europe, etc. In the case of criminals operating in countries that recognize Forex, there is no agency to stand out. protect the interests of the victim.
Regarding foreign exchange, according to Clause 1, Article 28 and Clause 1, Article 36 of the Ordinance on Foreign Exchange in 2005, only banks and authorized credit institutions can trade foreign currencies and provide other services. Thus, citizens are not allowed to participate in buying and selling (investing) foreign exchange in any form".
At the beginning of the year, the Da Nang City Police also received a number of denunciations from people accusing them of being scammed to appropriate billions of dong through virtual currency investment. Typically, Ms. LHTT invested more than 1.4 billion VND, Ms. VA invested more than 60,000 USD, Ms. KH invested more than 5.9 billion VND...
This new form of crime is different from the multi-level scam that hides in the investment of virtual currency that the police have warned before.
Scammers introduce themselves as successful foreigners in China, Hong Kong, Singapore...make friends with Vietnamese girls on Tinder dating app, then ask them to switch to contact through other applications such as Zalo, Line...
After chatting and creating trust, the "successful boyfriends" invited their "girlfriends" to invest on the Binance cryptocurrency exchange and SGX investment platform to earn more income.
"Boyfriend" instructs "girlfriend" to download the cryptocurrency exchange application and create an account on Binance (cryptocurrency exchange), then use Vietnamese Dong to buy USDT virtual currency on the exchange. After successfully buying USDT, they guide the girls to transfer USDT to SGX exchange for more profit.
They sent the girls a strange link to download the app and set up an account on the SGX exchange on their phone to make the money transfer.
At first, the girls often invest a small amount and immediately receive USDT with a 17-18% interest, withdraw both the original USDT and interest on the Binance exchange, and sell all to get Vietnam dong.
Seeing as "easy to eat", the girls used a larger amount of money to invest. But in fact, the more you pay, the more you lose because the SGX application of the subjects is a fake application designed to cheat and appropriate USDT virtual currency...
The Investment Police Agency warned people about the above tricks, recommending that investing in virtual currencies has great risks and is not protected by law.
