The 38th Covid-19 case in Vietnam died from liver cancer

Recently, according to the Treatment Sub-Committee of the National Steering Committee for Prevention and Control of COVID-19, Patient 3197, a 64-year-old female, has a history of chronic hepatitis B 10 years ago, liver cancer was discovered 4 months ago, died.

The patient was taken to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases on May 4 with the diagnosis: Sepsis/liver cancer, chronic hepatitis B, hemophagocytic syndrome.

The patient was treated with intensive care, mechanical ventilation, broad-spectrum antibiotics combined with antifungal drugs, anti-inflammatory drugs, blood transfusion, and vasopressors.

The patient was also consulted by leading professors in the field on May 18, 2021.

Diagnosis of death: Septic shock in patients with liver cancer, chronic hepatitis B, hemophagocytic syndrome, leukopenia, SARS-COV-2 infection.

This is the 38th death of the patient related to COVID-19 in Vietnam.

In recent days, the situation of the Covid-19 epidemic is taking place extremely complicated and dangerous in many provinces and cities across the country. Many outbreaks were detected with the number of cases rapidly increasing, causing the medical team to strain themselves, working around the clock to prevent the disease from spreading in the community.
