In the highland district of Ha Giang, there is a woman who owns super long and super thick hair that many people can't imagine. It is worth mentioning that the hair is still heavy, glued into large bunches and has never been "washed" for the past 20 years.
The owner of this unique hair is Mrs. Po (63 years old) - who lives alone in a house halfway up the mountain. Ms. Lan - Ms. Po's eldest daughter-in-law said: "My mother-in-law has two children: my husband and an aunt who live far away here. She only visits her mother from time to time, so I take care of everything with my own hands. She lives alone, but she comes down to my house every day to play or my mother and children come here to cook rice and pick vegetables for her.
She has very strange hobbies, does not drink alcohol like Hmong women, but is "passionate" to smoke any torch. Therefore, the land in the garden is full of Lao torch trees, and there are seven cigarette chips in the house. I said forever that she would not change."
Referring to the fact that Ms. Po has strange hair, Ms. Lan smiled and said that in this village, everyone knows and is used to having hair tied up like that. But some people outside the district heard the story of not believing it, and even weaved it into a story about her being "monstered".
"When I was young, my mother-in-law was known as Miss Village because she possessed the pure beauty of a Hmong daughter and was gentle. She has just grown up and married my father-in-law. About 3-4 years later, she suffered from a strange disease, a persistent high fever that she could not control herself. She wandered around for nearly 4 years. That was the time when her hair was long, thick and sticky like glue. After that, my wife and I picked her up to take care of her," Ms. Lan said.
At first, Ms. Lan was very afraid of this unique hair, so she wondered her husband why she didn't see her mother washing her hair, she looked unbearably dirty. Her husband immediately asked Mrs. Pó and received the answer that if she washed her hair, she would be seriously ill. Since then, she has not washed her hair and left her hair like this for more than 20 years.
However, Ms. Pó has never complained of itchy scalp. In particular, she just didn't wash her hair, and bathing still took place every day. "It's not itchy because I'm used to it. It's just that the longer it gets, the heavier it gets, the head seems to be about to be unbearable. The children told me to cut it down lightly, but how could I cut it. I tried cutting it, I got sick right away. So I don't cut anymore, just leave it alone," Ms. Po said in Hmong language, then Ms. Lan translated into Kinh.
Referring to whether she was worried about her mother-in-law having such sticky hair, Ms. Lan frankly: "Yes! I am also worried about whether my mother-in-law will have any effect on her health or not. But she is still healthy, can grow crops and raise livestock around the house."
Talking about the story of raising the hair of mutants, in India there was once a man who did not wash for 40 years. He is Sakal Dev Tuddu (63 years old), from Munger district, Bihar state, India. The reason why Mr. Sakal decided to grow long hair began with the fact that one night, his hair was intertwined, which was very difficult to remove after a sleep. He considered it a special sign and has not cut his hair or washed his hair since. He grew his hair about 1.8m long and cherished the hair he had, he considered it a gift from nature.
There are many people who live far away who often come to meet Mr. Sakal, take pictures with him, and he is ready to welcome them with joy and warmth. Mr Sakal said that his family members did not have any problems with his special hair.
Currently, the world record for the longest hair is held by a Kenyan woman living in the state of Florida (USA) named Asha Mandela, her hair was up to 34 meters long in 2018, when she was 55 years old.
Normally, Mr. Sakal wears a "hair rug" on his head and considers it a source of pride. The people who lived around him also respected him very much because of his special hair.
This strange hobby was also found on the body of a woman in England. Most people can't go out without washing their hair for a week, but a girl known as the Rapunzel of England claims that she has never washed her 6-foot hair in 20 years.
Frankie Cluney, 32, an artist from Brighton, England, started growing her hair when she was 6 years old and by the age of 13, her hair was waist-length. Frankie hates washing her hair because she feels like rinsing shampoo and conditioner in the shower and drying her hair for a long time. So a friend of her mother's suggested that she stop washing her hair and Frankie decided to do the same.
Frankie said that for the first few months, her long hair became very oily and her scalp was a little itchy, but then all those problems eventually disappeared. Since then, she hasn't done anything other than comb her hair thoroughly.
"It was one of my mom's friends who mentioned this idea of not washing my hair and so I thought why not give it a try. For the first few months, my hair became very oily and my scalp was a little itchy. That strange situation is quite uncomfortable.
Until now, people think that I have to spend a lot of money on my hair but I don't use any products on it at all. All I really do is just comb my hair, I don't even comb my hair every day," Frankie told Barcroft Media.
Occasionally, Frankie also struggles in her mind because the no-wash regimen makes her hair very messy. Thankfully, though, she's not too afraid to spend 30 minutes to an hour untangle all the knots in her hair, and can actually be called a "meditation" process.
Talking about the "advantage" of not washing her hair, the British artist said that her hair has the ability to absorb scents. So the hair is like a reminder of where Frankie went and who she was with.
