Biography and musical origins

B Ray, real name Tran Thien Thanh Bao, was born on October 11, 1993 in Ho Chi Minh City. He is known as a rapper – singer – songwriter who possesses a straightforward, personality and rich inner style. As a teenager, Bao spent time living in the United States, where he began to be exposed to hip-hop and tinkered with rapping in English under the stage name B Rizzle.

However, it wasn't until he returned to Vietnam and decided to rap in Vietnamese in 2012 that the name B Ray really appeared and gradually gained attention in the underground community. That choice not only helped him get closer to the domestic audience, but also affirmed his bravery – daring to change to find his own voice.

2014 – Viet Original and the exciting "fighting" period

In 2014, B Ray and Magazine founded Viet Original (V-O) – a rap team famous for its fierce antagonistic spirit. They constantly participate in "fiery" freestyle matches with large teams such as GVR, SSR, 7LD,... That fierce environment honed B Ray's skills, fighting spirit and stage bravery. Viet Original is considered the first "furnace" to help him stand firm in the underground world.

2015 – "The Frog and the Leopard": The Voice of Resistance in Art

B Ray collaborated with Young H (Young Ho) to launch the mixtape "Frog and Leopard", which is considered a manifesto product. More than just music, "Frog and the Leopard" is a protest, satire and reflection on social reality. The songs in the mixtape clearly show the critical thinking and rap storytelling style of B Ray – a rapper who not only talks about himself, but also dares to speak for others.

2016 – Farewell to the group and a new direction

When "Frog and Leopard" stopped operating, B Ray chose to continue on his own path. He and Masew and Dat G formed the group "Ba Dot", experimenting with the combination of rap and electronic music (EDM). Although it did not achieve great success, this was a period that helped B Ray learn how to connect between the underground and the mainstream, preparing for a big step in his career.

2017–2018 – Experiences, failures, and approaching the public

For these two years, B Ray is still working hard in rap battles with names such as Rhymastic, RichChoi, Blacka,... Despite his failures, he gradually shifted his musical thinking, starting to mix rap and pop to reach a mass audience. From a "rebellious" rapper, B Ray has gradually shaped the image of an artist who knows how to reconcile skills and emotions, both intense and delicate.

2019 – "Ex's Hate Me" and the big breakthrough

2019 became a historic turning point in B Ray's career with the hit "Ex's Hate Me" in collaboration with Masew and AMEE. The song has a modern rap-pop sound, hidden lyrics and catchy melodies that quickly "caused a storm" on YouTube and TikTok. "Ex's Hate Me" helped B Ray overcome the boundaries of the underground, officially set foot in the pop music industry, and at the same time opened up the trend of rap telling the story of love – something that was rare in Vietnamese rap at that time.

Not stopping at one hit, B Ray continued to explore himself through the songs "Building 20", "Love Like a Child", "Don't Blame the Children", "In The City"... 2023 – Vietnamese Rap Coach and Milestones of Influence

In 2023, B Ray was invited to take on the role of Vietnamese Rap Coach season 3, a milestone that proves his position in the rap industry.
