On the night of January 11, people in a village in Bang Mafo commune, Krok Phra district, Nakhon Sawan province (Thailand) witnessed an extremely haunting incident.
Ketsuda Khumphrom, head of Bang Mafo village, who witnessed the crime scene, said she heard strange noises like firecrackers coming from Sarawut's house.
Sensing something was wrong, Ms. Ketsuda rushed over to check and found Mr. Sarawut lying on the ground. At this time, Mr. Sarawut's father was struggling and trying to grab the gun from a woman's hand. After a while of struggling, he was able to grab it and successfully stopped the woman from killing herself.
Ambulance and police were immediately present at the scene, where police confirmed that the victim was Sarawut Phochatmongkhon (44 years old) who was attacked by his wife, Jitra (49 years old, Chonburi). The victim was found with two wounds, one on the side and one on the back of the neck.
The crime scene was extremely haunting, "blood was still smeared on the stone table on the first floor where the crime took place. The white Honda Civic of the perpetrator was still parked in front of the house," a witness recounted. Knowing that she could not escape the crime, Ms. Jitra sat down and surrendered to the police with the thing she had committed the crime. According to the initial statement, the cause of the incident stemmed from disagreements in love. The two had lived together for nearly 10 years but did not register their marriage.
Mr. Sarawut used to be a manager at a Japanese factory in Bangkok. Before that, the two lived together in Chonburi, Jitra's hometown. However, emotional conflicts and his wife's excessive jealousy made Mr. Sarawut decide to break up. Three days ago, he brought 300,000 baht (more than 220 million VND) of his Tet bonus to visit his parents in Nakhon Sawan without telling his wife.
This action made Jitra suspicious and temporarily jealous. Jitra secretly installed a GPS tracking device on Mr. Sarawut's car to monitor him. Early in the morning of January 11, she drove to Mr. Sarawut's house and then left. In the afternoon, she returned and talked to the victim until the evening when the incident occurred.
According to the wife, Jitra said she wanted to mend their relationship but was rejected by Sarawut. Jitra thought her husband had a new girlfriend so she tried to break up with her. The two argued fiercely, leading to the tragedy. Currently, the victim's family is preparing for Sarawut's funeral at Bang Mafo Temple, about 2km from the scene.
As for the culprit, the Krok Phra police station investigator said that Jitra had admitted to all the crimes. She had the intention but refused to recreate the crime scene.
A similar incident occurred in Thailand in 2023. The husband, 63, drove a pickup truck with his concubine to vote at a polling station at an elementary school. The official wife, Samorn, 61, waited for them at the school gate and asked her husband to stop the car, but he continued driving.
According to security camera footage, Samorn fired one shot into the car before jumping into the back. She fired two more shots, one of which hit her husband in the back. The car then spun out of control and crashed into a power station. Samorn jumped out of the car and stabbed her husband twice in the thigh with a knife while he was still in the driverâs seat. Meanwhile, the concubine jumped out of the car and ran away. After the incident, Samorn waited for police at the scene to surrender.
Ms. Samorn said that she and her husband had been married since 1983. Their children were all grown up. However, her husband had left her for his mistress many years ago. The last time they saw each other was in 2019. Ms. Samorn had tried to meet her husband many times but he had avoided her. Out of bitterness, she decided to take action against her husband after learning that he would vote with his mistress.
