Fans were dissatisfied and booed midfielder Supachok after the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final, when he scored a controversial goal in a 2-3 defeat to the Vietnamese team.

Frustrated by Supachok's actions, many people flocked to the social media accounts of the Consadole Sapporo club to express their dissatisfaction.

Specifically, a fan named Tiny_wasabi commented that Supachok lacked the spirit of fair-play and that was embarrassing. Another account wondered what the Japanese club taught Supachok to make him make such a ball. Another fan also commented that the image of the Japanese club was influenced by a Thai player.

In the face of the wave of criticism, Supachok decided to lock his personal Face.book page and turn off the comment feature on Insta. However, the Consadole Sapporo club has not had any specific response to this incident, as well as little update on Supachok's journey at the tournament.

Talking about the controversial goal, Supachok also recently clarified:

"At that time, we need to put strong pressure on Vietnam. I didn't concentrate and didn't care how the ball went out because I was busy talking to the referee in an angry state.

Due to being so disappointed with the referee's decision and the emotional tension from the atmosphere of the spectators, after the game resumed, my teammates passed the ball to me, and instinctively, I kicked the ball into the net. Immediately, the Vietnamese players ran to complain to me. I tried to explain to everyone that I was not aware of the situation that occurred while I was affected by strong emotions towards the referee's decision.

As a professional player, I never thought about committing unsportsmanlike behavior and this happened just because of a misunderstanding."

In terms of law, Supachok is not wrong. However, many Vietnamese and Southeast Asian fans do not agree with this striker. The goal goes against the noble sportsmanship in football. Thailand should have returned the ball to the Vietnamese team to continue the match.

Notably, the Organizing Committee of the AFF Cup 2024 has added the name of Supachok's goal to the list of "The most beautiful goal of the tournament". In just a short time, the number of votes for the Thai striker has increased dramatically. Supachok's goal led with about 80% of the votes. In which, mainly the voters are from Vietnam.

That means, Vietnamese fans are "pressing" Supachok to receive an award for a goal that lacks fair-play. This is no different from the "sweet punishment" that fans want for the Thai striker.

Faced with that situation, Thairath newspaper had an article: "Supachok's situation will definitely make you happy. Revealing the latest voting results for the title of the best goal in the AFF Cup 2024". The Thai newspaper emphasized that Supachok was "force.d" to receive the award, which made this striker and fans of the Golden Temple happy.

Supachok joined Consadole Sapporo from Buriram United on a six-month loan in May 2022, and was then officially signed thanks to his impressive performance. However, Consadole Sapporo had to play in the J2 League after being relegated in November 2024.

Last season, although the club was not successful, Supachok still performed not badly with 2 goals and 5 assists in 19 appearances. He has a contract with the club until December 2027 and is likely to continue playing in the 2025 season.
