The case of actor Wong Jing being arrested and detained at the Thai- Myanmar border has caused a stir in public opinion. After being rescued, Wong Jing shared his horrifying experiences, especially being forced to become a criminal.
According to Vuong Tinh after being rescued, he was lured to Thailand with the promise of a job in the entertainment industry. On January 3, arriving in the Land of the Golden Pagoda with a tourist visa valid until March 3, he was taken by a person from a job brokerage company to Chai Nat, a province in central Thailand.
From there, he was moved to Mae Sot, a district in Tak province, close to the Thai-Myanmar border. Crossing a river, Vuong Tinh was shocked to realize that he had set foot on Myanmar soil, where he was controlled by a group of armed men and taken to a house.
There, he witnessed a horrifying scene with at least 50 other Chinese people also detained. He was even taken to another room where there were people from many countries. All the detainees had their heads shaved.
It is worth mentioning that during the three days of his detention, Vuong Tinh was forced to attend an involuntary "training course" where the masterminds taught him fraud skills through text messages. Fortunately, they did not have time to instruct him on how to commit fraud over the phone.
Those days, according to Vuong Tinh, were "horrible days", he lived in extreme fear, wondering if he could escape that hell on earth. He believed he had been lured to Thailand by scammers who took advantage of the reputation of a major entertainment company.
After receiving a report of Wang Jingâs disappearance on January 3, Thai police, with the support of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, quickly launched an investigation. Based on data from security cameras and Wang Jingâs last known location, authorities were able to determine his location on January 6.
General Thachai Pethanirabut, head of the Thai National Police's Information and Technology Crime Prevention Center, said the rescue was quite complicated, requiring close coordination between Thai and Myanmar police and local people.
On the morning of January 7, rescue forces simultaneously raided two detention centers where the lured people were being transferred from Thailand to Myanmar. At the first location, police rescued 10 Chinese citizens. At the second location, where Wang Jing was being held, they rescued 50 more people, including the actor. After 96 hours of being missing, Wang Jing was freed and was assisted by Myanmar to return to Thailand that evening.
The success of the rescue cannot be denied to the important role of Jia Jia, Wang Jingâs girlfriend. After losing contact with her boyfriend, she did not panic but quickly reported to the police and contacted the Thai Embassy in China. On January 6, she flew to Thailand to work directly with local authorities.
According to Myanmar media, the mastermind behind the transnational kidnapping ring has been arrested. He is the boss of Apolo Huy Hoang, a large labor brokerage company with many branches in China. This person is known by the nickname Kim Lao Ho, also known as Director Ngoc, and is from Guangdong, China. The person who directly seduced Vuong Tinh, Kim Xan, has also been arrested.
The Actors Committee of the China Radio and Television Federation has also issued a reminder to actors and management companies about this issue. The incident also shows the complexity of transnational crimes, especially in border areas. Close coordination between countries and the decisive participation of functional forces are extremely necessary to prevent and destroy these dangerous criminal networks.
