The groom was shocked when he lifted the brideâs veil, because the face that appeared was his mother-in-law, who was 23 years older than him. Not letting this matter sink in, the young man quickly filed a lawsuit against the family for defrauding him.
A bizarre incident has caused a stir in public opinion after local police confirmed that a young man was tricked into marrying... the bride's parents. The incident was reported by NDTV on April 19, and is attracting attention not only because of its irony but also because of the funny and sad details surrounding it.
Accordingly, the complainant, Mohammad Azeem (22 years old, resident of Brahmapuri in Meerut), said that his wedding with Mantasha (21 years old) was held in Shamli district on March 31. All the wedding procedures were taken care of by Azeem's brother Nadeem and sister-in-law Shaida.
However, on the day of the wedding, something shocking happened. Specifically, when the traditional rituals were carried out, the bride's name was announced as Tahira instead of Mantasha, the 22-year-old groom began to have doubts. Until the veil was lifted, the truth left Azeem speechless: the person standing before him was not a 21-year-old gir.l, but a 45-year-old middle-aged woman.
More importantly, the woman was the brideâs biological mother. According to the police, Ms. Tahira had impersonated her daughter to marry Azeem, while the real bride was completely absent. Her motives were not known, but the 22-year-old groom claimed that he had handed over 500,000 rupees (151 million VND) on the day of the wedding, as part of an agreement between the two families.
However, when the affair broke out, Azeem faced a backlash from his brother and sister-in-law. He told police that when he protested the cheating, they threatened to charge him with rap.e - a charge that Azeem said was completely fabricated to pressure him into silence and acceptance.
Undeterred, the 22-year-old groom decided to file a complaint with the police on April 17. The case was immediately accepted and investigated by the authorities. The truth behind the fake wedding was quickly revealed, causing a stir in local public opinion.
However, after a short investigation, police representative - Ms. Saumya Asthana, officer in charge of Brahmapuri area - said: "A settlement agreement has been accepted by the parties concerned. Azeem has withdrawn his complaint and said that he does not wish to pursue any further legal action at present."
However, the incident still leaves many unanswered questions in the community: Why would a mother impersonate her daughter to marry someone old enough to be her grandchild? What is the real purpose of Azeem's brother and sister-in-law in arranging the whole thing?... Perhaps, after this shoc.k, the 22-year-old groom will need some time to regain his trust, not only in love but also in his family.
Not long ago, also in India, an even more shocking incident occurred in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Accordingly, Shivani, who lives in the city of Aligarh, said that at first she thought she would be the main character in the upcoming wedding. Unexpectedly, she "turned" into a supporting role on April 6, when she discovered that her biological mother had run away with her fiancé.
This complicated love story became even more tragic when all the cash and wedding jewelry, worth more than 250 million VND, "disappeared" with the couple... out of sync. According to Shivani, that was the entire dowry she prepared for herself before getting married.
Shivani was devastated by the loss of everything. While her father had heard some rumors about the affair between his wife and her future son-in-law, he decided to keep quiet for fear of affecting his daughterâs marriage. The family reported the incident to the police. The whereabouts of both have not been found yet.
