Dong Thap - 2 more suspected cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection

Dong Thap Province's Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control said that there were two more suspected cases of SARS- CoV-2 infection, which were isolated immediately upon entry; 2 F1 cases of BN 2424 (2 drivers) were negative for the first time for SARS-CoV-2.

Among the 2 suspected cases, 1 case is a person from abroad who entered through Thuong Phuoc International Border Gate, Hong Ngu district, and was taken to concentrated isolation on February 28. The other case is also an entry from abroad, has passed 14 days of concentrated isolation, had the first test negative for SARS-CoV-2 but the second test before the end of isolation gave results. positive for SARS-CoV-2.

Both new suspected cases were discovered while in concentrated isolation at Hong Ngu Middle School. Currently, both of these cases are taken to the isolation ward at Hong Ngu Regional General Hospital. The functional departments of Dong Thap province are urgently locating the epidemiology, classifying and identifying cases of contact with suspected infected people for timely handling.

Regarding patient 2424, there are 2 cases of F1 (driver) who had 1st negative result for SARS-CoV-2. Thus, up to this point, all 11 F1 cases of patient 2424 have been negative for the first time. Currently, the functional sector is urgently tracing the remaining 4 related cases (suspected to be F1 of patient 2424).

Facing the complicated situation of the epidemic, the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Disease Prevention and Control in Dong Thap province suggested that people continue to raise their awareness of vigilance and seriously implement measures to prevent and control the disease. according to the 5K recommendation of the health industry. At the same time, direct the Border Guard force to tighten trails and openings to prevent illegal entry and exit.

Previously, two women illegally entered Dong Thap from Cambodia, one of them tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the results of the initial epidemiological investigation, on February 23, the woman (from Can Tho City) and another woman from Cambodia illegally entered Dong Thap. These two people rented a motel in Sa Rai town, Tan Hong district. On the evening of the same day, the functional forces discovered and sent these two people to concentrated isolation and take samples for testing.

On February 25, test results from the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City showed that one person was positive for COVID-19, the other was negative. Currently, the positive woman has signs of cough, sore throat and is being isolated and monitored at the isolation area of Hong Ngu Regional General Hospital.

In the initial epidemiological tracing, the functional sector identified 11 cases of contact (F1) with suspected infected people and about 40 F2. The functional sector has isolated 09 people, who are F1, of which 03 are in Can Tho city; at the same time continue to track the remaining 02 F1.

At the meeting, Mr. Doan Tan Buu, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee requested the Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention and control in Tan Hong district, Hong Ngu district and Hong Ngu city to strengthen forces and strictly control the area. border gate areas, trails and openings, preventing, detecting and isolating cases of illegal entry. Judging that this is a case of signs of spreading from Cambodia, illegally entering Dong Thap, with clinical manifestations, the risk of infection in the community is very high, so Mr. Buu recommends that people continue to raise their awareness. be alert and seriously implement measures to prevent and control the epidemic as recommended by the health sector; at the same time, actively coordinate with functional agencies in providing information, proactively alerting when detecting suspected cases of COVID-19 and cases related to people returning from epidemic areas.
