According to information from VietNamNet newspaper, on October 9, the Police Database of Thu Duc City handed over suspect Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung (39 years old, living in District 12, temporarily residing in Thu Duc City) and exhibits to the Ho Chi Minh City Police. HCMC to expand investigation and handle according to its competence the acts of "G.I.e.t persons" and "Robbery".
At the police office, suspect Dung confessed that Ms. T. (26 years old, from Long An, temporarily residing in Thu Duc City) was to break debts and rob property.
According to the investigation, Ms. T. is the owner of a fruit bowl at Thu Duc wholesale market, located in Tam Binh ward. Suspect Dung and his wife are fruit traders walking by three-guard car in Thu Duc City, often taking goods from Ms. T. to resell for profit.
In the process of doing business together, Dung had debts to Ms. T. Many times Ms. T. collected debts but could not and Dung avoided her face.
Recently, Dung developed the idea of killing Ms. T. to pay off debts and rob her property.
According to the Lao Lao Newspaper, on the afternoon of September 30, Dung drove his motorbike to the stall and asked Ms. T. to drive Dung outside to talk because Dung's hand hurt. In the parking lot, Dung and Ms. T. stood talking. Feeling unwell, Ms. T. was about to get into the car to take Dung back to the stall when suddenly Dung rushed from behind to grab her neck and stabbed Ms. T. repeatedly with a knife in her body, causing her to collapse on the spot.
After that, Dung dragged Ms. T. inside, sat on Ms. T. and took the gold ring, jewelry and handbag Ms. T. was carrying including: Phone, gold earrings, gold necklace, gold shaker and the amount of VND 15 million. Dung then went to a hostel in Hiep Binh Phuoc ward, Thu Duc city.
Because Dung was covered in blood and bogged down while struggling with Ms. T. in the parking lot, Dung washed herself. When the husband found Dung panicking, his clothes were stained with blood, so he asked, Dung confessed that he had just stabbed people in the market, not knowing how to live and die.
Knowing about the incident, the husband took Dung's bloodstained clothes to the door of the house to douse them with gasoline and set them on fire. However, the donkey on his leg left him with minor burns.
When the police stepped in, by the afternoon of the same day arrested Dung and recovered all the stolen property. In addition, the police also detained the husband and invited some people who witnessed the case to work, expanding the investigation.
Residents later discovered the incident and took Trang to the emergency hospital, but the victim did not survive at 13:00 on September 30. According to the conclusion of the forensic examination, Ms. T. was stabbed dozens of times with knives concentrated in the head and face.

HCMC participated in the search and arrested suspect Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung while staying at the house in Hiep Binh Phuoc Ward.

According to the provisions of article 18 of the Penal Code, "A person who fails to promise in advance, but after learning that the crime has been committed, has concealed the offender, traces or exhibits of the crime or has committed other acts that obstruct the detection, investigation and disposal of the offender, shall be criminally liable for the crime of concealment in the cases covered by the Code this regulation".
Although the Penal Code stipulates that persons who conceal crimes as grandparents, fathers, mothers, children, grandchildren, siblings, spouses of offenders are not subject to criminal liability, for crimes infringing upon national security or other particularly serious crimes specified in Article 389 of this Code, they shall still be subject to criminal liability for: acts of concealing their crimes as prescribed in Clause 2, Article 18 of the Penal Code 2015.
Depending on the nature, extent, acts of concealing crimes shall be punishable by non-custodial penalties of up to 3 years or imprisonment for up to 7 years as prescribed in Article 389 of the Penal Code 2015 and amended and supplemented in 2017.
