The red scarf is a typical symbol of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers, often used in Team activities, such as flag-raising ceremonies, Team activities, or major events related to youth. For youth union members, wearing a red scarf with the Union shirt is completely permitted in some specific cases, such as when participating in volunteer activities, events connecting the Union and the Team, or major holidays such as the anniversary of the founding of the Union (March 26) to arouse the spirit of youth.

However, in practice, members usually only need to wear the standard dark blue Union shirt without wearing a red scarf, unless there is a specific instruction from the Organizing Committee or the superior Union agency. Therefore, wearing a red scarf when wearing the Union shirt depends on the nature of the event and the organization's instructions, as long as members need to ensure that they use it for the right purpose to demonstrate their sense of responsibility and protect the image of the Union.
