In February 2023, Nguyen Quang Tuan sent a petition to the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Procuracy requesting not to request a psychiatric assessment for his mother. Mr. Tuan said he heard that Mr. Dung Lo Voi and a lawyer defending Ms. Hang had sent multiple petitions requesting the investigation agency and the People's Procuracy to request an assessment for Ms. Hang, citing this as a circumstance to provide bail and request a reduction in her sentence.

Nguyen Quang Tuan stated that he disagreed with this psychiatric assessment. He said that its consequences would affect legal relations regarding marriage and family, civil legal relations regarding property ownership, and management of capital contributions in enterprises.

In particular, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang's son also suspected that Mr. Dung's request for a psychiatric assessment of his mother was not to guarantee or collect mitigating circumstances, but could be a plot to control and decide all of Ms. Hang's property rights and the right to manage capital contributions in her businesses.

After that incident, public opinion began to suspect that the relationship between Nguyen Quang Tuan and his stepfather was not very harmonious. Indeed, 1 month later (April 2023), Mr. Tuan sent a petition to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Procuracy complaining that he was not allowed to visit his mother. Mr. Tuan wondered why he was not allowed to see his mother according to the visitation schedule but Mr. Dung Lo Voi was?

In July 2023, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang's son officially filed a complaint against Mr. Dung Lo Voi, who was a co-organizer and actively assisted his mother in committing the crime, but the case was not considered or prosecuted. Mr. Tuan requested that Mr. Dung's role as an accomplice in Ms. Hang's crime be considered. By the end of July, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department concluded that there was not enough basis to determine that Mr. Dung's actions constituted a crime.

Just those incidents that happened during the time Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang was in prison were enough to show that Mr. Dung Lo Voi and Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuan had a "stormy" relationship. After the female CEO of Dai Nam was released from prison early, although she did not mention these scandals, public opinion still found it hard to forget.
