The passenger boat left the temple to return, when it came to the middle of the river, it unfortunately collided with a cargo ship and sank, 1 passenger unfortunately drowned and did not survive, the rest were fortunate to be saved but still left behind. panic and fear.
At about 8:30 a.m., when the passenger boat was in the middle of the river, about 60 meters from the temple in Long Binh Tan ward, Bien Hoa city, it collided with a container ship from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai. The impact caused the boat to overturn and sink into the river in the territory of Thu Duc city. Many people panicked, screaming for help.
According to Mr. Binh (ignoring the boat), the strong collision threw the boat's head up and then sank quickly. The boat capsized, Mr. Binh found a hole in the side of the boat to get to the surface, then saved 4-5 people, mostly women and children. Several passenger boats nearby came to pick up the 12 victims. However, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, 32 years old, suffocated to not survive. Dong Nai Police's rescue and rescue team was present to help.
Nguyen Thi Tinh, sister of the victim Huong, said that this morning, the two sisters rented a boat at Xua wharf, Long Binh Tan ward, Bien Hoa to visit Chau Doc pagoda on the occasion of the full moon of January. About 5 minutes after leaving the wharf, the boat collided with a boat moving slowly on the river. When the accident happened, both sisters were wearing life jackets.
The area where the accident occurred was the channel of cargo ships entering Dong Nai and Binh Duong ports, about 800 meters from Dong Nai bridge, next to Ba Xe island. Around 12:30, the rescue work ended. According to authorities, the victim was trapped in the boat and could not get out. Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai police cooperate to investigate the cause.
Initial information, the boat in distress has a license to carry passengers to Chau Doc 3 pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City; machine capacity of 12 horsepower (CV), tonnage of 2.15 tons, carrying 12 people.
At noon on the same day, talking to PV Thanh Nien, Chairman of Long Binh Ward Tan Doan Van Doan said that one passenger was unlucky, and the rest were safely rescued. Currently, Huong's body has been taken to the morgue of Dong Nai General Hospital.
Many people left comments warning before the incident:
My fear also came one day, when my wife and I went to Buu Long Pagoda in District 9, we also planned to take a boat to Chau Doc 3 pagoda, but when we got to the wharf, we saw that the boat was small, the waves were big, the barge was running across the middle of the river. asked his wife to come back and did not dare to go. Amitabha Buddha, may everyone be at peace!
If you lose, you will be negligent in not allowing guests to wear life jackets or carelessly refusing to wear life jackets. Wearing a life jacket is fine. A valuable lesson for many people who do not know how to swim when sailing on the river.
I've been to this temple and saw many boaters also subjectively not wearing life jackets, so how can the accident happen now to react in time.
New Year's Eve is a time when many people go to festivals as well as go to pagodas to get lucky at the beginning of the year. But in addition to rare accidents such as the sinking of the boat above, tourists also have to face the danger of raising prices and jostling at spring tourist spots.
According to cultural researcher Pham Dinh Hai, going to the New Year's Eve ceremony is a traditional cultural belief of the Vietnamese people, with inheritance and not against the law. According to the old concept, Vietnamese people go to spring in a joyful mood, enjoy the warm spring air, and watch everything bloom and multiply. Going to the temple at the beginning of the new year is not only to wish good things for family, relatives and friends but also a time to find a spiritual place and understand more about traditional culture.
"But at present, the number of people who visit the scenery is small, but there are many people who come to pray, ask for fame and money. This makes the original nature of going to the New Year's Mass misunderstood," said Mr. Hai.
Assoc. Dr. Do Minh Cuong said that constantly going to Mass can have bad effects on life and work such as economic loss when you have to spend a lot of money on moving and buying offerings; work distractions; quarrelsome husband and wife; causing traffic jams and indiscriminate littering.
"Not to mention the fact that blindly following the movement can also be taken advantage of by many bad actors to gain profits," warned Mr. Cuong.
Researcher Nguyen Dinh Hai believes that thoughts determine a person's destiny. "If going to Mass wants to be good and effective, each person must deal with their own psychology, how to always maintain frankness and integrity. Absolutely do not let external factors cause bad influence, make themselves are drawn, a dua blind," Mr. Hai said.
Assoc. Dr. Do Minh Cuong also said that each individual should be clearly aware of religious issues. According to him, each person needs to determine motivation and development goals instead of just waiting for a certain force. In addition to individuals, agencies and organizations also need to limit the movement of going to New Year's holidays under the label of spring tourism.
"If it's really spring travel, you should choose the right time for everyone to feel comfortable, instead of squeezing each other into the sea of people," said Mr. Cuong.
