As a result, a 6m long tapeworm was recovered after giving her an enema. H said he does not have the habit of eating raw and rare meat. However, H often eats rare beef noodle soup and beef hot pot.

In addition to this girl, Dang Van Ngu Hospital also received treatment for a male TMT patient (40 years old, Hai Phong) with dull abdominal pain around the navel. T said, he has a habit of eating rare meat because it feels sweeter, more delicious and nutritious. Not only beef but also pork when boiled, Mr. T likes to eat when the meat still retains the pink color inside. The doctor assigned the patient tests and instructed to take samples of the tapeworm. As a result, the patient was diagnosed with adult tapeworm infection.

The cause of many people infected with tapeworms is because they cannot give up the habit of eating rare, raw, and undercooked foods. Even when eating beef hot pot or beef noodle soup, the hot pot broth is not boiling enough, and the meat is not thoroughly cooked.

Flukes can live 25 years in the human body

Adult tapeworms are scattered across the country, with infection rates ranging from 0.5-12%; In which, the prevalence of beef tapeworm infection is mainly 70-80%, pork tapeworm accounts for a low rate of 10-20%. Tapeworms are usually 2-4 meters long, sometimes up to 8-10 meters. These flukes live for many years in the human body and can live up to 25 years. The length of the adult tapeworm is up to 4-12m. There are about 50,000 eggs inside each old segment when released.
