Regarding the case of 4 people in the same family passing away in Phu Xuyen district, Hanoi, on January 19, speaking to the media, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung - Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police said that the police agency has initiated a case, prosecuted the accuse.d, and temporarily detained Vu Van Vuong (born in 1973, in Phu Xuyen district, Hanoi) to investigate this act of violenc.e.
Previously, at around 2:30 p.m. on January 17, Mr. VVS's family discovered that Ms. D.TN (born in 1946, in Kim Long Trung village, Hoang Long commune, Phu Xuyen district - VVS's aunt) had died lying on the bed in the living room.
Later, the family discovered that Mr. N's daughter-in-law, Ms. D.TT (50 years old), and Ms. T's two children (daughter born in 2006; son born in 2008) were all dead under the bed in the bedroom. Mr. VVS's family reported the news to the Phu Xuyen district police.
Realizing the seriousness of the incident, the leaders of Hanoi City Police directly went to the scene to direct professional units to coordinate with the City People's Procuracy and Phu Xuyen District People's Procuracy to carry out investigation activities according to regulations.
According to information in Tuoi Tre newspaper, after more than 20 hours of urgent verification and investigation, at about 12:30 on January 18, the forces of Hanoi City Police coordinated with the Departments of the Ministry of Public Security and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police to arrest the suspect, Vu Van Vuong, son of Ms. D.TN. Through quick investigation, the police initially determined that Mr. Vuong admitted to attacking his biological mother, wife and two children.
According to the police, Vuong showed signs of depression, abnormal psychology, tested negative for illegal substances, after committing the crime, Vuong wrote a letter and took medicine to leave but did not di.e. On the afternoon of January 16, Vuong took a bus to Da Nang and then continued to Vung Tau City.
According to Vuong, at around 10am on January 15, Vuong used a hammer to attac.k his daughter VTH, then hid it under the bed. At noon, Vuong's son, VTT, came home to sleep, and at around 3pm, Vuong also used a hammer to attac.k him and also hid it under the bed.
In the evening, Vuong's wife, Ms. D.TT, came home from work at around 11pm. Ms. T. also shared the same "fate" as her two children. About 2 hours later, at 1am on January 16, Vuong used his hand to hit his mother, who had been ill for a long time and was bedridden, until she died.
After committing the crime, Vuong wrote a letter and took medicine to escape, but failed. On the afternoon of January 16, Vuong took a bus to Da Nang and then continued to Vung Tau City. There, Vuong hired a motorbike taxi to go to Lien Tri Pagoda to pray for the victims.

The suspect said his motive for committing the crime was to free his family from poverty. At around 12:30 p.m. on January 18, Hanoi Police forces coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security's professional departments and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Police to arrest Vuong.
Previously, at around 2:00 p.m. on January 17, Ms. Vu Thi Ut T. (40 years old, in Co Hoang village, Hoang Long commune, Phu Xuyen district, Hanoi) went to her brother Vu Van Vuong's house and discovered Ms. Dao Thi N. (79 years old) dead in the living room.
Ms. T. immediately called for help from nearby residents. She then continued checking the house and discovered under the bed in the bedroom her sister-in-law, Do Thi T. (50 years old), and her children, Vu Thu H. (19 years old), and Vu Thanh T. (17 years old).
Upon receiving the report, given the particularly serious nature of the case, Lieutenant General Nguyen Hai Trung - Director of Hanoi City Police and Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung - Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police - directly went to the scene, directing the police investigation agency to coordinate with the Criminal Police Department and functional units to organize the scene investigation, investigation, and arrest of the suspect.
