According to media reports, on July 28, 5 large fishing vessels anchored at Lach Quen port (Quynh Luu, Nghe An) were suddenly burned fiercely - a loss of more than 20 billion VND. Up to now, the authorities have determined the initial cause of the incident.
Recently, on the morning of July 30, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dinh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district (Nghe An province) said that the authorities had determined the initial cause of the fire. Specifically, this is an electrical short on the fishing boat of Mr. Bui Xuan Xin (residing in Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu, Nghe An).
Accordingly, after Mr. Xin's fishing boat caught on fire, because the ships were anchored close to each other, the fire quickly spread to neighboring ships. From 1 fishing boat caught fire, the fire spread to 4 other ships - causing all 5 fishing boats to be destroyed by fire.
"Yesterday, the tide was high, so the authorities could not approach the ship for examination. At 3 am this morning, the police approached the ships, examined and seized a number of samples for examination and identification. determine the exact cause of the fire," Trung said.
The terrible fire caused 5 ships (with an initial investment value of more than 40 billion VND) to burn down, causing more than 20 billion VND in damage. People living near Lach Quen port were shocked by the incident, especially the fishermen who were directly affected.
Faced with a "wrong" situation, after the incident, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district directed Son Hai and Quynh Long communes - where the ships were on fire, thereby mobilizing and supporting the ship owners. Initially, Quynh Luu District People's Committee also supported each burned ship with the amount of 20 million VND to encourage ship owners in distress.
It is known that at about 8 pm on July 28, people living near Lach Quen port (Quynh Thuan commune, Quynh Luu, Nghe An) discovered a fire, which occurred at a large fishing boat. The fire soon broke out, engulfing the entire ship.
At that time, people tried to use local means to fight the fire and move other fishing boats to a safe place. However, due to a lot of flammable materials on board, the fire broke out bigger and bigger and spread to neighboring ships. At this time, the number of large-capacity fishing vessels moored at Lach Quen port is also very large, with a dense density. So, up to 5 ships were engulfed in flames.
Upon receiving the news, leaders of Quynh Luu district and authorities were urgently present at the scene, together with people to extinguish the fire. The Nghe An Provincial Police Department also mobilized many officers and soldiers and 4 specialized fire trucks to come to support.
According to the sharing of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Luu Commune - Mr. Thuan Tran Van Trung: when the ships were burned along the flow, they formed 3 different fire points. Meanwhile, on the ship there were many flammable items and a lot of oil in reserve, so it was difficult to put out the fire.
In just a few moments, all 5 ships were burned. In which, 3 ships were completely burned, the remaining 2 ships had all equipment in the ship burned, and the hull was partially burned. Fortunately, the fire did not cause any injuries.
Trung also added that, according to the initial report of the owners of 5 fishing boats, the damage from the fire caused a total of more than 20 billion VND.
