The "poetry fair" trend is spreading strongly on social networks, attracting a large number of participants with spontaneous and witty poems. Young people, known for their openness and sense of humor, are creating a unique "playground" of language.
Recently, social networks Facebook and TikTok have been buzzing with poems that begin with "Dong market..." or "Love market...". These poems have many different colors: Sometimes they are reproachful, sulky, sometimes they are happy, sometimes they are sarcastic or a bit "guilty". Although they were just "made up" poems for fun, this poetry trend is becoming more and more viral, attracting many young people to "catch the wave".
This trend originated from a couple of folk songs: "When the market is crowded, you say the red snapper is bland. When the market is closed, you say the silver fish is delicious." With a similar formula, cyberspace has become a "poetry market" with countless "sky-high" poetic ideas such as: "At the love market, I bought the wrong pumpkin. I love you, I can't let you go", or humorous styles include: "At the love market, I took the wrong kumquat. I don't have a penny but I'll follow you no matter what", "At the love market, I took the wrong papaya. It's an old story, why do you bring it up again?"...
More interestingly, many artists also joined the trend such as singer Phung Khanh Linh, singer (S) TRONG Trong Hieu, MC Thanh Thanh Huyen, actor Quang Tuan... This further proves the spread of this attractive trend.
Sharing with the media, Nhat Mai (student of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Law), shared: "I find this trend quite interesting, many poems I read are very good, sometimes I am even surprised by the creativity in "wordplay" of the online community".
Thuy Dung (student of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and Technology) expressed: "Thanks to this trend, I see the beauty of Vietnamese. The way many people rhyme, "play with words", "play with words" creates many meaningful poems, without creating a feeling of "cheesiness" or awkwardness".
Undeniably, the "love market" poems bring quite good entertainment value. Many verses have implications that "hit the nail on the head" for many people, causing a sense of empathy. Many humorous, satirical verses create excitement, joy, and bring much laughter to the online community.
It is unclear who initiated it, but by early April this year, the online community had taken the above meaning and created humorous content. Most people used this as a way to jokingly talk about the "turning of the back" changes in relationships or people's choices in modern life.
From stories about friends, daily life to relationships in the office environment, even love stories, sales,... people all apply this way of speaking to attract more attention. The whole social network shows excitement and delight when being able to freely create rhymes to interact and respond humorously and wittily with each other.
However, many people believe that because this trend is based on folk songs, if abused or parodied in a joking way, lacking respect for the original work and the author, the poem can be misunderstood. Some netizens left comments saying that parodying poetry should be carefully considered, and should be respectful, to avoid causing misunderstandings and losing the original joyful spirit of the trend.
According to young writer Ny An (30 years old, living in Quang Nam province), the trend of "winter market", "love market" with parody poems, at first sounds quite interesting. Many of the sarcastic sentences are very humorous, can help people surf social networks relax, laugh a little after stressful working hours. At the same time, it shows the creativity of today's "trend-following" youth.
"However, in my opinion, we should not encourage the parody of folk songs, proverbs or poems by any author. Because over time, it is likely that people will forget the original poem. In addition, if the poem is parodied with nonsense, vulgar content or intentionally teasing or making fun of others, it will lose the inherent beauty of the folk song or proverb. Borrowing the words of young people today, "have fun, but don't have too much fun". Whether parodying poems or folk songs, there should be a certain limit and don't let things go too far," young writer Ny An added.
