The blind box fever is over, in early December, young people in Ho Chi Minh City started a new trend called Jagat treasure hunt. Coins hidden everywhere in the city have attracted thousands of Gen Z to join the treasure hunt.
After the recent "blind box" fever, in early December, a newly launched game has been responded to by many young people in Ho Chi Minh City, creating a trend among young people. This new game is called "Searching for Jagat coins". This game is causing controversy because it is considered useless and time-consuming, but at the same time, many young people believe that thanks to the treasure hunt, they have more opportunities to meet friends.
Specifically, the way to play the game is as follows. When downloading a social networking application to the phone, the player will receive a clue about the location of a special coin, hidden in a secret location. They will follow the clue to that location - it can be a fence, a row of trees, a trash can... to find the Jagat coin. When found, the player can use the coin's barcode and serial number to exchange for a gift.
The value of the coin depends on the difficulty of the hints, the conversion rate ranges from 200,000 VND to a million VND. According to community groups, there are currently about 1,000 coins in Ho Chi Minh City. Every day at certain times, coin hints will be sent to players.
This fun and rewarding activity attracts many young people to participate enthusiastically day and night. The group "Vietnam Jagat User Community" on Facebook has up to 4,400 members; the group "Let's do Jagat missions together" which was established later also has more than 1,000 members. Although it has just been launched not long ago, this game has quickly received a lot of response and participation from users, especially young people.
A young person in Ho Chi Minh City, his group of players stayed up several nights to search for treasure coins, but they were still slow and had their coins taken by someone else. For the active Gen Z, this challenging game is really fun and attractive. These days, just go to TikTok and type in the keyword "Jagat finds treasure" and many videos with thousands to hundreds of thousands of views and comments will immediately appear. In which, players often ask about how to play, how to exchange coins, hunt for coins quickly, and wonder why they haven't received their money yet.
The rules of "Jagat Treasure Hunt" are said to be quite similar to Pokémon Go, which was once popular in 2016. The Pokemon game quickly became popular among young people. At that time, to hunt for Pokémon Go, many young people went out to deserted places, or to parks, Bach Dang Wharf, Zoo, etc.
Others are concerned about the game because in order to play the game, you need to allow access to personal data, players must grant full access rights on the phone. When users accept access rights, they sell all information on social networks to the manufacturer, everything must have a reason, no one gives money to others like that. When registering an account, you must have a Gmail account, the application will automatically control your phone while playing. That is the reason why many people are concerned about security issues and have not yet joined this trend. Many people are afraid that providing too much personal information will easily lead to annoying calls.
In response to these comments, the TikTok account jagatvn (supposedly the owner of the game app) said that Jagat will not invade users' privacy and will not damage players' property. "Jagat is not capable of doing what you say," Jagat wrote. The game app also committed that the coin deposit and reward redemption are real. Users who complete the activity properly and do not cheat can successfully receive rewards.
In addition, some players are concerned that the game distributes coins in crowded places, causing many players to gather to find coins, causing disorder, loss of property, and damage to public trees. Many people think that hiding coins in residential areas will disturb the people there, especially if young people organize to play at night. There is even a risk of being "whistled" by security for disturbing public order.
Similarly, a user with an account commented: "Spreading near the police area like this is too much. If the police act up like Pokémon Go in a few days, it's game over." Sharing the same opinion, a player named KA commented on Jagat's video that it is necessary to limit hiding coins in places that are not suitable for large gatherings. "We were just reported by the people, the police and militia stood guard and blocked the road. The police asked for papers, or the militia asked us to go somewhere else," this person said.
Many netizens analyzed that the number of coins is not much, the value is not too great, while to search for them, a series of players spend a lot of time and effort, sometimes even gathering in large numbers causing public disorder: "Spending time going around the city to search for coins costs more money on gas than the rewards received. Many of my friends even skip school to go looking for them, the benefits do not outweigh the harm", account @minhanh2k3 commented in a TikTok clip, calling this a useless trend.
