Nguyen Quoc Vu – a well-known businessman and husband of singer Doan Di Bang – has been temporarily detained in connection with a case involving the production and sale of counterfeit cosmetics. The Dong Nai police's order to confiscate three batches of sunscreen has shocked the public and sparked intense debate.
Nguyen Quoc Vu, a name previously associated with the image of a successful businessman and a lavish lifestyle with singer Doan Di Bang, has now become the focus of a case that has shocked public opinion. On November 5, 2025, the Dong Nai Provincial Police officially arrested Mr. Vu and two accomplices for investigation into the production and sale of counterfeit goods. This shock not only rocked the business community but also sparked heated debate on social media.
According to information from the authorities, the product in question is Hanayuki Sunscreen Body, manufactured by EBC Dong Nai Medical Factory JSC and distributed by VB Group Trading and Service Co., Ltd. – where Mr. Vu holds the position of General Director. The inspection results showed that the product's SPF was only 25.82, less than half of the figure stated on the packaging. This means that thousands of counterfeit products have been released onto the market, posing a direct threat to consumers.
On January 10, 2026, the Dong Nai Provincial Police continued to issue a notice requesting the recall of three batches of related products, including batches manufactured in April, June, and July 2024. These products are unused, still sealed, and are required to be returned to the investigating agency. This is a strong measure to prevent the spread of consequences and to facilitate legal action.
The incident quickly became a hot topic on social media. Many expressed surprise that a businessman once considered a role model for success would be embroiled in legal trouble for counterfeit goods. Some opinions suggested that this was a wake-up call for the cosmetics market, which is rife with products of unknown origin. Consumers need to be more vigilant and not rely solely on brand names or glamorous advertising images.
Meanwhile, there were also comments expressing disappointment, as the name Nguyen Quoc Vu was associated with luxury, supercars, and high-profile business projects. His arrest has led many to question the responsibility of business leaders, especially in sectors that directly affect public health.
Investigators determined that, starting in January 2025, Dinh Van Lien – Deputy General Director of CTEBC Dong Nai – directed the production and sale of over 1,600 counterfeit sunscreen products. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, another leader, directly participated in the production, while Nguyen Quoc Vu handled the distribution to the market. The actions of all three defendants are considered to constitute the crime of "Producing and selling counterfeit goods" as stipulated by law.
Currently, the Dong Nai Provincial Police are continuing their investigation and are calling on organizations and individuals who have purchased or possess products from the three batches of sunscreen mentioned above to contact the authorities to provide information. This is a necessary step to protect consumer rights and affirm the strict enforcement of the law.
