The case of 4 flight attendants carrying more than 11kg of banned substances from France to Vietnam being detained for investigation has received a lot of public attention.
The identities of four flight attendants of Vietnam Airlines are being held in criminal custody, including: Nguyen Thanh T., Dang Phuong V., Tran Thi Thu N. and Vo Tu Q.
Previously, through an underground examination of the luggage of these four Vietnam Airlines flight attendants, customs detected unusual signs, then found more than 11 kg of banned drugs and synthetic banned substances in toothpaste tubes. Specifically, inside the tubes of toothpaste and mouthwash the flight attendants brought home there were more than 8 kg of banned drugs and more than 3 kg of ketamine (the most expensive type of banned substance), cocaine.

In the luggage of Vo Tu Q., there are 43 boxes of toothpaste on the outside with the words "Signal Expert White" printed on the outside. 31 of these boxes contain many gray tablets weighing about 2.18kg. The remaining 12 boxes contain white powder weighing about 1kg.

In the luggage of Dang Phuong V. there were 2,020 grams of gray tablets and 2,000 grams of white powder.
In the luggage of Tran Thi Thu N. there are 780 grams of gray tablets.
Through working with the Public Security Agency, the hostesses were surprised to learn that there was a banned substance in the toothpaste.
Initially, the flight attendants cried and declared that, while in France, a person (unidentified) asked to "carry some goods home" and paid more than 10 million VND. Due to being too tired because they had just gone through a long flight, the flight attendants only looked through a few tubes of ice cream and did not see anything unusual.
At the airport in France, the luggage of these flight attendants was not detected abnormally, until they arrived at Tan Son Nhat airport, they were discovered by the airport authorities.
When they went to the French airport to return to Vietnam, the local authorities did not detect banned substances in their luggage until they arrived at Tan Son Nhat.
Answering VnExpress about the baggage screening process of flight attendants as well as crew members, Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghiep - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, said this is the same as for ordinary passengers. "Customs have measures to covertly, and how to recognize unusual signs, but this is a service that cannot be provided," he said.
Regarding the case, Dan Viet newspaper reported, Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department said - this is a "new target group" and has no precedent.

Leaders of Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department pondered: "Bringing 1 kg or 10 kg of banned substances are equally dangerous. The age of these flight attendants is very young, some are only 27 years old. I don't understand why young people. This is such a thoughtless act."
Currently, the authorities are focusing on verifying and investigating the testimony of 4 flight attendants and related people and tracing the consignee in Vietnam, to clarify the nature of this case.
