Trung confessed to purchasing illegal substances via social networks Telegram/Signal using multiple intermediary bank accounts to conceal his actions. From there, the police investigated and identified the subjects involved: Phung Vinh Lam (direct delivery person), Nguyen Duc Trung (resale), Bui Cong Thinh (delivery), and Cao Thanh Xuan Thao (user). This shows the complexity and scale of the network.

Notably, expanding the investigation, Ho Chi Minh City Police discovered that Tran Phu Long (born in 1989) and especially Nguyen Cong Tri were involved. Both of them often illegally used banned substances together. Specifically, on the evening of June 23, they were discovered using them at Cong Tri's private home in Tan Hung Ward. The arrest of a famous figure like Cong Tri for using banned substances caused a big surprise.

At Tri and Long's residence, the police discovered many suspicious objects such as ceramic plates, rolled up bills, and plastic cards.
