The case involving the Hanayuki Sunscreen Body product distributed by the company of Doan Di Bang’s husband is becoming more serious as the Investigation Police Department of Dong Nai Province Police has officially stepped in. This is a complicated case, receiving special attention from the public, raising many questions about product quality and the responsibility of related parties in the cosmetics industry.

Previously, the Dong Nai Provincial Department of Health transferred the case file related to the Hanayuki Sunscreen Body sunscreen product distributed by VB Group Trading and Service Company Limited (headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City) of Doan Di Bang's husband, to the Economic Police Department (PC03) , Dong Nai Provincial Police for investigation and handling due to signs of counterfeit goods.

According to the report of Dong Nai Department of Health sent to the Provincial People's Committee , the test results of Hanayuki Shampoo product showed that it did not meet the quality standards for microbial limits. The Department of Health has drawn up a record of administrative violations and imposed penalties according to regulations. Both of these products are manufactured at EBC Dong Nai Medical Factory Joint Stock Company (Trang Bom district).

Notably, the Hanayuki Sunscreen Body product (100g tube, batch number 0010125, Manufacturing date: 060125, Expiry date: 050127) has a sun protection index of SPF 50 on the label. However, the test results of the authorities showed that the actual index was only SPF 2.4 - nearly 21 times lower than the announced number, and less than 70% of the effectiveness stated on the label. This is a serious violation of regulations on labeling and declaring the quality of cosmetic products.

With these violations, the Dong Nai Provincial Department of Health has decided to suspend circulation, recall and destroy the above batch of Hanayuki Sunscreen Body products nationwide. The reason given is that the sun protection index on the label (SPF 50) does not match the actual sun protection index test results (SPF 2.4).

Further investigation revealed shortcomings in the product quality testing process at EBC Dong Nai Medical Factory Joint Stock Company - the manufacturing unit for VB Group.

Specifically, of the 6 mandatory testing criteria for a cosmetic product, the Testing Department of EBC Dong Nai Medical Factory Joint Stock Company was only able to perform 1 criterion (uniformity). For the remaining 5 criteria (including sensory, arsenic, lead, mercury and bacterial contamination limits), this company signed a testing contract with the Drug, Cosmetic and Food Testing Center of Quang Tri province.

In March 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Drug Testing Institute retested the two products. The results showed that Hanayuki Shampoo did not meet the quality requirements for the limit of bacterial contamination according to ASEAN harmonized regulations. At the same time, this product was also found to contain the preservative 2-phenoxyethanol , but it was not listed in the ingredients on the label - a serious violation of product ingredient declaration.

Regarding Hanayuki Sunscreen , the test results of the Ho Chi Minh City Drug Testing Institute once again confirmed that the SPF is 2.4 , much lower than the SPF 50 index published on the product label.

Faced with these clear test results, the Department of Drug Administration, Ministry of Health has officially announced the suspension of circulation and recall of the two above products.

Dong Nai Provincial Police determined that this is a serious case, of particular concern to the public, because it directly affects the health and interests of consumers. Therefore, the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai Provincial Police is concentrating its forces to urgently investigate and clarify the responsibilities of all related organizations and individuals. The goal is to strictly handle it according to the provisions of the law, without leaving any violations unpunished.

This incident is not only a strong warning to cosmetic manufacturing and distribution establishments about their responsibility to ensure product quality, but also a wake-up call for consumers to be more careful when choosing and using beauty products, especially those products that are widely advertised on social networks.
