In the midst of the time when Vpop is gradually asserting its identity on the Asian music map, Phuong My Chi suddenly became a different bright spot. Not following viral trends, not tricks, the young female singer is consistent with her national identity through well-thought-out music products, imbued with Vietnamese spirit.
Recently, the performance of Buon Moon and Shadow of Vanity at the program Sing! Asia 2025 â an international music playground gathering many representatives from Asian countries â has helped Phuong My Chi make a strong impression on international audiences. On this stage, she brings a distinctive, delicate and civilized contemporary folk color. It is the result of a persistent transformation journey, from the image of "Ms. Seven Folk Songs" to a modern, creative Gen Z artist who has not lost its roots.
The DTAP music production team â Phuong My Chi's close associate â admitted that the preparation process for this international stage was a risky gamble. "We don't know why we were so brave, pushed the song higher, more difficult, and then decided to beat the tone at the end," the group's representative shared. The crew recounted that the recording time for the performance was at 2 a.m. â outside the singer's usual living hours â making everyone worried about their physical fitness and voice opening.
"But Phuong My Chi has done it, not only technically complete but also full of emotion, sophistication and discipline. Listening to Chi sing, I get goosebumps and am proud that Vietnam has such a brave representative in the international arena," DTAP added.
On Phuong My Chi's side, she could not hide her emotion when the performance was warmly received by the international audience. On the social network Weibo, she shared: "I am grateful, proud and burst into tears when the contest was received. Every time I present Shadow of Vanity, it is a time when I relive the story and emotions. Today's result is a reward for continuous efforts, as well as gratitude to those who always trust and accompany me."
The singer added: "I feel very lucky to still have the opportunity to bring Vietnamese music and culture to the world through the Sing! Asia."
Not only Phuong My Chi, previously Hoang Thuy Linh and Chi Pu also contributed to bringing Vietnamese music to the region in very different ways.
For Hoang Thuy Linh, she is one of the pioneering artists to bring Vietnamese cultural elements into popular pop music. Products such as Gieo Qué, Let Mi Tell Me to Listen or See Love attract attention not only because of their catchy music but also because of their high aesthetics, integrating many folk materials â from ca dao, pentagram to traditional images. However, maintaining a constant creative motif puts Linh in a new challenge: the risk of repeating herself, both in her message and in her image.
Meanwhile, Chi Pu represents a different direction: market thinking and the ability to reposition personal image. From a skeptical hot girl when switching to singing, Chi Pu gradually transformed herself into an entertainment brand with pervasive power. The fact that she participated in a TV show in China and performed in front of millions of viewers was not only a personal turning point but also proved that Vpop can be marked by many factors â not only the quality of her voice, but also her stage bravery, image investment and personal strategy.
Putting these three artists side by side, the question "Who is the most prominent female artist today?" or "Phuong My Chi, Hoang Thuy Linh, Chi Pu â who is better?" becomes absolutely difficult to answer. Each of them represents a different artist model, meeting different expectations from the public.
Chi Pu is an all-powerful artist model in the digital age: dare to try, dare to change. Hoang Thuy Linh shapes a new aesthetic standard, contributing to recreating Vietnamese culture in an artistic but still intimate way. Phuong My Chi is a person who keeps the roots, is consistent with national music but still integrates, gradually asserting herself on the international stage with strength and meticulousness.
From a broader perspective, the most valuable thing is not in who is better than whom, but in the fact that all three of these female artists â with their own style â are contributing to expanding the image of Vietnamese artists in the international arena. In the context that Vietnamese music is still struggling to find a way to reach out beyond the border, the fact that they have a clear orientation, both affirm their position in the country and quietly spread Vietnamese culture to the world is a positive and hopeful signal.
Phuong My Chi suspected of being oppressed on a Chinese show, so she asked for help from her senior Chi Pu? Đình Như13:41:28 13/06/2025After Chi Pu's resounding success in the Chinese market, now Phuong My Chi, the girl who made her mark with sweet folk music, is the name that the public and experts have high expectations of following in her senior's footsteps.
