Artist Bac Hai was born in 1970, known through comedy skits. He has been performing since the 1990s and is best known for the comedy play The Outdated Fortune Teller at Gala Cuoi. However, after this period, Bac Hai performed less and his career declined from then on. He changed his business direction but suffered losses, lost all his capital, and had to return to his hometown to reduce expenses.

In 2011, Bac Hai and Ms. Thoa met and fell in love. They lived together for 14 years and had a son together - Bac Hien, but only registered their marriage in Ho Chi Minh City in May 2025. Ms. Thoa was with her husband from the time he was still healthy and had assets until he fell ill, had to sell his house and car for treatment, and was at the end of his rope.

During a difficult time for his family, the male artist planned to let his son drop out of school, but in the end he decided to let him continue going to school to find a chance to change his life.

In recent years, Beihai's health has been deteriorating. In 2022, disaster struck when he was hospitalized for severe cirrhosis, kidney failure, and spinal stenosis.

Due to economic exhaustion, Bac Hai could not receive good treatment. In mid-2024, feeling so desperate, he decided to post a request for help on Facebook. That was the day the electricity was cut off because he could not pay, there was no medicine, and his son was preparing to start the new school year but did not have 600,000 VND to buy a uniform.

When he was hospitalized the second time, Bac Hai's assets were only 7 million VND, while he had to pay 20 million VND in medical expenses.

At this time, he asked someone to bail him out so that he could delay paying the hospital fees. Later, comedian Viet Huong sent Bac Hai 20 million VND for medical treatment.

He said: "Without everyone's support, I wouldn't be here today. After the first serious illness, I stopped receiving support and went back to singing to earn money to support my life. That night, I took on 3 shows, just standing in one place, unable to move on stage.

Later, I was hospitalized a second time in a more critical condition. I was completely paralyzed, unable to walk, and had to be transferred to 3 hospitals. I continued to receive help from my brothers and colleagues."

Bac Hai said that after two serious illnesses, he was completely penniless and destitute. However, because his colleagues had helped him a lot, he did not dare to complain. He said: "I am very grateful to my colleagues because they helped me and gave me so much when I was sick. That is why now, no matter what happens, I just grit my teeth and endure it, not daring to open my mouth to ask anyone for money."

More than two months ago, director Khuong Dua visited artist Bac Hai and found that his health had become extremely serious.
