As one of the judges at Sing! Asia â a music program that brings together a series of famous stars from across the continent, singer Dan Truong is affirming his enduring appeal among the top artists.
Not at all inferior to Su You Peng or Zhang Liangying, Dan Truong's appearance attracted the attention of domestic audiences, creating a wave of support from the Asian music-loving community.
Recently, Dan Truong shared a video recording of a special duet with diva Truong Luong Dinh on the Sing! Asia stage. The two combined well in the hit song "Cut a pair of sorrows" by Tang Duy Tan - a Vietnamese composition that is familiar to domestic audiences but has been "renovated" with a modern, international arrangement. This is considered an interesting intersection between two music genres, two generations and two different styles.
Notably, despite standing next to one of the singers dubbed the "Queen of Vocal Technique" of China, Dan Truong still shines with stable performance and confident demeanor. His strong, energetic voice and fiery performance style like his peak years have helped the male singer not to be overshadowed at all. He is still the "Bo" of the past - the one who was once the symbol of youth for a generation of Vietnamese audiences.
Not only showing his personal strength, Dan Truong also brought pride to Vietnamese music when he firmly appeared on the continental stage. Under the posted clip, a series of comments from Vietnamese audiences expressed their emotion and pride when witnessing their home country's artist shine among the "forest of stars" in Asia. Many opinions said that this was not just a performance, but also a strong affirmation of the increasingly prominent position of Vietnamese artists on the regional entertainment map.
Not only Dan Truong, Phuong My Chi â a young representative of Vietnam as a contestant at Sing! Asia â is also having an impressive performance.
After the success of Buôn TrÄng and Rock Hạt CÆ¡o, Phương Mỹ Chi continues to bring to the Sing!Asia stage (Singapore station) a performance of Lý Bắc Bá» with a combination of the sound of the rice drum, the technique of singing folk songs of Bắc Ninh... This is a slice of the three-region music journey that the 10X singer and producer DTAP have carried out with the desire to bring a complete and modern picture of Vietnamese culture on the international stage.
Sharing about this choice, DTAP said that this is not an easy song: "Phuong My Chi possesses maturity in 'feeling' folk songs and balancing between technique and emotion. That is why we believe Chi will convey those simple messages to international audiences in an impressive way."
"Through this performance, we want to prove that Phuong My Chi and DTAP do not simply introduce traditional music, but also send clear messages about identity, diversity and innovation in the spiritual life of regional music - where each melody can be felt by the hearts of today's youth and international friends," shared a representative of DTAP.
Another highlight of the performance was the segment Pushing the Ox Cart, a song composed by DTAP inspired by literature - specifically the short story The Beggar's Wife by writer Kim Lan. This is a work that reflects human love in the midst of hunger, the desire to live and the belief in tomorrow - true to the beautiful spirit of the Vietnamese people that the group wants to spread on the international stage.
The presence of two Vietnamese artists from two different generations â Dan Truong was a Vietnamese music icon in the 2000s, and Phuong My Chi is a new symbol of Gen Z â has created a vivid "double picture", showing the strong and diverse transformation of Vietnamese music. From youth to experience, from the spirit of integration to preserving identity, both are proving that Vietnamese artists are not only ready to step out into the world, but also have the courage to stand shoulder to shoulder with friends in the region.
Sing! Asia is not only a game of sound, but also a place where artists affirm their national position with their own talent and personal mark. And in that playground, Vietnam has representatives who make the domestic audience hold their heads high.
