Mr. Doan Ngoc Hai praised the abbot of Ba Vang Pagoda for making positive contributions to religion, even reaching out to the whole world. Regarding the controversial issue of receiving money, former Vice Chairman of the District 1 People's Committee affirmed that Thich Thai Minh did the right thing.
In recent days, the case of "Three Golden Temple receiving donations from Buddhists" has caused a lot of controversy. Public opinion says that monastics should not put too much emphasis on material matters, but the action of monks using their hands to "pick up" money from people is said to be quite offensive. On the side of Ba Vang Pagoda, the spokesperson affirmed that the donation activity is a good tradition, which is popular in many countries, not only Vietnam. Ba Vang Pagoda added that money and material donated by Buddhists will be put into the social security fund in accordance with the law.
While the case is still unresolved, recently, Mr. Doan Ngoc Hai has affirmed that Ba Vang Pagoda did the right thing. Former Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of District 1 refuted comments accusing Master Thich Truc Thai Minh of abusing his position and taking money for his own. In particular, the information that the abbot had an illicit relationship with women was completely fabricated. In addition, Mr. Hai also did not regret praising his talent, education as well as his efforts to make Ba Vang Pagoda the largest spiritual complex in the Gulf of Tonkin today. Mr. Doan Ngoc Hai added that the fact that Thich Truc Thai Minh was talented and famous, it was inevitable that he would be jealous and envious.
Nguyen shared by Mr. Hai:
Master Thich Truc Thai Minh - Abbot of Ba Vang Pagoda was happy with the Buddhists and did the right thing, seeing the people's hearts being extremely happy, it proved that Thich Truc Thai Minh was right. We should not reason much and roundabout anymore, people's hearts are the most accurate measure. For me there is only RIGHT or WRONG, not RIGHT or NOT.
Through the talk about Master Thich Truc Thai Minh, I have some opinions as follows:
1/ Did Master Thich Truc Thai Minh take the money of the Temple as his own? Haven't seen it and certainly won't be because looking at the Master's face, I can see it clearly.
2/ Does Master Thich Truc Thai Minh do charity with money donated by Buddhists? Yes, you have done a lot.
3/ Did Master Thich Truc Thai Minh "break the precepts" with female Buddhists? There hasn't been and certainly won't be, seeing the Master's face clearly.
4/ Is Master Thich Truc Thai Minh good at Buddhist philosophy? Very good, seeing thousands of people happy to hear the teacher preach, it was clear.
5/ Was Master Thich Truc Thai Minh good at university before going to monkhood? He is a very good student of the National Economics University in Hanoi.
6/ Did Master Thich Truc Thai Minh violate Buddhism and Vietnamese laws? Do not have.
7/ Did Master Thich Truc Thai Minh force Buddhists to kneel before him? There isn't any.
8/ Did Master Thich Truc Thai Minh "stick a gun" to the heads of Buddhists to force them to give money? There isn't any.
Note: Master Thich Truc Thai Minh and his disciples and Buddhists rebuilt Ba Vang Pagoda, Ba Vang Pagoda is just a small temple despite having a long history. However, since Master Minh came to the abbot, in just over 10 years, Master Minh has turned Ba Vang Pagoda into a monumental spiritual complex of national stature and known to the whole world through the Buddhist philosophies that Master Minh has taught. Enlightened, many people praise it, and many people don't like it.
Before that, share with the press about the noise taking place at Ba Vang Pagoda. Most Venerable Thich Gia Quang, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, said that this practice is not standard and incompatible with the Buddhist philosophy of our country. The Venerable Master replied that almsgiving activities mainly take place in Theravada Buddhism. When going for alms, the monks only receive enough food and utensils, but not money and flowers as in the clip at Ba Vang Pagoda. The leader of Uong Bi city affirmed that the donation was not wrong, but the image of the monk receiving money from the people was offensive, asking the temple to remove the video on social networks.
"In the past, the Buddha also went for alms but did not accept money or flowers, mainly only received food and utensils. The monks who went to beg for alms held the bowl, when they received enough food in the bowl, they would not take more. Society used to have the phenomenon of 'fake teachers' to beg for food. It was the problem of distorted beliefs, morphing," said Most Venerable Thich Gia Quang.
