According to Sky News, the series of events after the departure of the Queen of England is codenamed "Operation London Bridge".

When the whole country mourned the queen, millions of people flocked to London to bid farewell, Prince Charles immediately ascended the throne, visited four countries and appeared on television for the first time as king.

Although the official developments have not been announced yet, Sky News has reviewed the expected events from the announcement of the queen's death to the queen's funeral.

The period of national mourning has begun and is set to last until the funeral. Queen Elizabeth II's funeral is scheduled to take place 10 days after her death.

Upon arrival at Westminster Hall, the coffin can be left there until the day of the funeral for the public to visit and pay their respects. The site is expected to be open 23 hours a day.

The British government is said to have a detailed security plan for large crowds coming to London, similar to the one for the 2012 Olympics.

Queen Elizabeth II will have a full state funeral, possibly 10 days after her death, at Westminster Abbey.

Members of government, former prime ministers and heads of state from across the Commonwealth and the world will attend the funeral.

The Queen's national mourning is expected to include 2 minutes of silence to be broadcast live. The date of the funeral will likely be declared an official day of national mourning.

On the occasion of national mourning, shops, offices and schools have the ability to close but the decision to close or open is up to organizations and individuals. Supermarkets and essential retailers may choose to operate reduced hours.

The final resting place

After the funeral, Queen Elizabeth II's coffin is expected to be carried through central London, before heading to Windsor Castle.

Here, the coffin was taken to St George's Chapel, where Prince Philip's funeral took place. A farewell ceremony may be held here.

Following the ceremony, Queen Elizabeth II's coffin will be taken to the castle's King George VI memorial chapel, where the queen's mother and father are buried. This will be her final resting place.
