After 5 months, he was prosecuted for the crime of "abusing democratic freedoms and violating the interests of the State, organizations and individuals" according to the provisions of Article 331 of the Penal Code. On July 21, the People's Court of Duc Hoa district sentenced "abbot" Le Tung Van to 5 years in prison and his accomplices from 3-4 years in prison respectively. Particularly, the seventh defendant, Le Thu Van, on July 28, went to the police station of ward 15, Phu Nhuan district, to present himself after the arrest warrant issued by the authorities. In addition, the Long An Provincial Police Department said it would also temporarily suspend the handling of accusations of "incest" and "scam to appropriate property" against individuals living in Tinh That Bong Lai.

It seemed that the 5-year sentence was enough of a deterrent, helping the defendants realize their mistakes. However, according to the latest information, Mr. Le Tung Van has made an appeal to the authorities to claim justice for himself. Similar to the first-instance trial, in the appeal, the "grandfather" repeatedly denied that he and his disciples had violated the law and insulted Vietnamese Buddhism. Use the excuse of old age and weakness and spend time raising children in Tinh That. "Grandfather" said that his life is just around here, not abusing social networks to record videos that infringe on the interests of the state or any individual. Therefore, Mr. Le Tung Van requested the court to release him and amend the original judgment of the first instance. 5. In the old days, there was a saying "Infantry, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Pictures, all three ministries agree...", now I and my disciples have up to 5 "sets" as the Public Investigation Police Agency. Duc Hoa District Security, Long An Provincial Police Security Investigation Agency, Duc Hoa District People's Procuracy, Long An Province People's Procuracy and Duc Hoa District People's Court all agreed to persecute us.

I request the Court of Appeal to correct the first-instance judgment, declare me and my disciples not guilty, release my disciples and stop the case, erase the injustice done to us and let them I believe Vietnam has justice".
