Before that, at about 9:00 p.m. on January 18, while standing in front of a bag sale on Nguyen Trai Street, Ward 2, District 5 (HCMC), a green tree branch about 0.2m in diameter fell and hit Mr. D's head.

Hearing the victim's screams, people around ran to check and discovered that the victim's head was bleeding and were taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment in a seriously injured state.

Some residents said that the fallen tree branch was about 2 meters long, showed signs of rot, and there was no rain or wind at the time of the incident. It was noted that Nguyen Trai Street has many trees tens of meters high and the area where the incident occurred had many people selling fashion items at night.

"D's personality is gentle, he often sells handbags in the above area, but unexpectedly... Everyone here loves him," said the owner of a water shop near the scene.

According to information from Thanh Nien newspaper, District 5 authorities also came to examine the scene. This is a street known as a place that sells many fashionable clothes and clothes. Every night, this area has many people spilling out onto the sidewalks to sell goods.

The broken branch was still fresh, about 3.5 meters long and about 10cm in diameter at the break location, the branch location was nearly 30m above the ground.

"Despite being actively treated by doctors at Nguyen Trai Hospital, Mr. D.'s health condition was still very poor and he passed away on the afternoon of January 19. Regarding the cause of the fatal incident of a broken tree branch, Mr. Son said that through checking the scene, the broken tree branch was a fresh branch, falling from a height of about 30m. The tree branch was split along the branch, no defects were noted, but it is possible that there is an underground crack inside the branch.
